The ref also ALWAYS says "Obey my commands at all times". This presupposes that the commands need to be verbal. And, as I've written elsewhere, "box on" is the normal command. Some refs say "box". With Cortez making obscure gestures, Ortiz was obviously waiting for that command. Also, if you review the tape. you will see that Mayweather quickly glanced at Cortez, saw he wasn't looking, and immediately took advantage of that, and hit Ortiz. That's why Cortez was so surpised when he saw Ortiz on the floor. He lost control.

Mayweather....No sportsman. And I don't really think it should have been allowed. But the ref, taken by surprise, had committed himself, and he was in charge, so when he said it was legal, that was that.

He really, in my opinion, should have DQ Mayweather, but I'd bet that with all the publicity and love Mayweather has lavished on his record, Cortez was afraid to do so.

this post is crazy. how did he behave like a coward when the sport is beat the other man down? you say it was legal then contradict your self by your next statement. and if you want to talk coward tell jccjr to get in the ring with a real fighter.

Ortiz got alot to learn. You in the ring trying to take someone's head off and you kissing and hugging?!? He purposely headbutted floyd...what did he expect a hug and kiss back? He was doing some decent work in that round but he was still getting tagged with that right hand. The punches didnt seem to hurt him but he was getting broken down. He wouldnt have came on in the later rounds because he not that kind of fighter. Look at his fights with Peterson and Maidana, they hung around and were able to Outbox/KO him. As much as I dislike floyd, he was only gonna get stronger as the fight lasted, stopping ortiz in the later rounds.

I saw some punches Floyd connected with that stopped or buckled Ortiz at times. Vic was on his way out. Still wished the fight went further.

How the f_ck did Ortiz quit? Dude your an idiot if you're thinking that. All of you guys are justifying a cheap shot because he was fouled. Because is wasn't illegal it has to be ok? NO! You know having sex with your best friends girl is not illegal but it's a bull**** move! Things don't have to be illegal or legal to be right. As far as Ortiz's headbut well it was wrong but it was taken care of already by the ref. Unlike the sorry cheap shot Mayweather got away with, it didn't change the fight. You guys are just justifying it because there is a gray area about protect yourself at all times. Well it's not a rule it's a recommendation. What is a rule is no cheap shots (in so many words). If you don't think so then go read the Marquis of Queensbury rule book

I agree 100% and Like I've always stated these fans are justifying it because of Ortiz's own foul. As we all know it was taken care of by the ref and points, warnings were deducted. It might have been within the rules but it doesn't make it right.

the problem with cortez issuing a DQ is that his loss of control of the fight led to the famous 1-2 combo that floyd gifted vic with...

A DQ would then be very difficult to justify...

Considering the three men in the ring all did something not "right" then a no contest would have been more in line...

Some of these Floyd fans are too much .... they say that they can't wait until Floyd throws another SUCKER PUNCH .... lol .... well at least they admit their shortcomings!

They don't care how Floyd wins ...

                      Mayweather's too smart

I like both fighters and just wanted to see a good fight but I ended up getting ripped off. I blame Ortiz but Cortez and Mayweather didn't help the situation. Ortiz was fighting dirty so I don't blame Money May for makeing'em pay... Mayweather and Marquez have respect for eachother but they got no luv for Pac Man..
