Joe Cortez really lost control of the fight. No wonder Ortiz looked back at him, not knowing what was going on. Joe Cortez never verbally told them to fight.
“No, it was all within the rules. I did not say box with my mouth, because there were so many people [at the arena], they would not have heard my voice. So I waved the boxers [to fight on], and this always happens when you have an arema with 13 or 15 thousand fans inside."Comment

cuz he was being bullied or because he was mad like a champion?..Champions dont forgive in a BOXING rings...Who wants to see a fighter accept three apoliges in a row?...I want to see him get mad and make u pay...He did it with Marques...Marques landed a clean punch on Floyd, and Floyd got mad and knocked him down...He threw the same hook the whole fight, but it wasnt until Marques pushed Floyd, thatgave Floyd that extra power...Mosley made Floyd mad in the second round, and we all saw what happen in rnd 3....When Floyd gets mad, he has something extra that u have to pull out of him...I hope he suckerpunches the next guy who think the boxing ring is a place for overabundances of apologies...I wanna see blood...not buddy buddy pacman ****Comment

Cortez didnt wave the boxers to "fight on." He wasnt even looking when Mayweather landed the shot... By the time he turned around Ortiz was already on the floor and Cortez just started counting. He should watch replays of his officiating. Even he will say he sucks.Comment

Yes he did liar...They didnt show that on the replay.....They only showed them coming from the corners AFTER he waved them to continue...dont get on here and start lying just cuz ur mad that Floyd is 42-0!...Floyd has NEVER been a dirty fighter thats gonna lose his temper and get himself disqualified....He been doing this for 16 yrs, and he been suckerpunching guys all his life...he knows how to do it...he's not stoopid enough to do it as a foul...get outtta here lyin assComment

Money was going to beat Vicious anyway...the level is talent was apparent from the first round. Vicious needed a way out so he could cash his 2.5 million dollar check and found one.
That combo that Money hit Vicious with in the fourth round buckled Vicious knees.Comment

The prize picture point of the whole mess is the expression of sheer surprise on Cortez' face, with mouth wide open. In fact, it's rather certain that he didn't realize what had happened, until Ortiz had come to rest on the canvas, right under his astonished eyes.
There is no doubt whatsoever but that he was looking away at that moment directly towards the timekeeper.
As for Mayweather's punched themselves, they didn't seem to be serious, especially the first, left hook, which was a rather "wake up" tap, with little power on it. This was what surprised Ortiz, and caused him to look towards the ref to see if he'd seen it and if he was going to caution Mayweather. Ortiz never looked "out" more surprised than anything. He doesn't seem very bright, maybe he was trying for a DQ, Hopkins style......
That's the way it looks to me.....Comment

And I can tell you, for sure, that regardless of the arena noise, the one voice a boxer ALWAYS hears is that of the ref to whom he is automatically tuned in to.
The ref's tones are short, sharp and expected, and right beside you, easily picked out.So if Cortez didn't actually speak, a concentrating fighter might not notice a "gesture".........Comment
