JMM>>Tito deal with itVargas was a very good fighter at the time, with wins over Winky Wright, Ike Quartey, Raul Marquez and Campas. I dont think its a huge stretch to say that Diaz at his best was almost as good a win as Vargas, but Juan had already gotten bludgeoned by Nate Campbell and took a beating prior to fighting Marquez.
I would consider Katsidis maybe not life and death but it was definitely a hard fight. Marquez got hit a lot, and the knockdown was very legitimate and not something you can just ignore.Comment

great educated argument substantiated with facts and logic.
not to mention I said legacy wise theyre nearly even in my mind.
Eh, it was a close fight., and Vargas' output might have pulled him throughTo be fair though, Vargas got beat in the Wright fight
Either way, the fact that Vargas had such a close fight with Wright in the first place shows how good he was imo.Comment

He got the decision because he was supposed to be HBO's new star. If you think Barrera and Marquez was controversial, you gotta feel the same for this one. C'mon lolgreat educated argument substantiated with facts and logic.

oh, there was no doubt it was controversial. You could have had Wright winning the Vargas fight.
but I reiterate: just being able to have such a close fight with a Wright at 154lbs is pretty indicative of your ability as a fighter. and its not out of the question that you could have had Vargas winning the fight, since he did throw more and land more punches, particularly in the last rounds.Comment
Really? Tito was put down by lesser fighters than Diaz and Kats.
