Intereesting parallell between the two as it wasn't until later in their careers (more so Marquez) that they got to face their best opposition. Trinidad had great contenders and fellow belt holders in his class but for some reason never fought them. He never fought Whitaker, Page, Lopez, Quartey, Rivera, Chavez.

Only really fighting Carr early on and Oscar in his last welterweight fight. While Quartey, Whitaker, Delahoya, Lopez, Rivera, etc. had fights against one another. Odd no one really points that out.

Whitaker had something like 9 title defenses at 147 before fighting Delahoya.
There had to have been sometime before 1999 when they were both capable for those two to fight. Pea was #1 P4P for awhile and Tito was top 6, they were in the same division and no one called for it? Kinda weird.
