cotto landed some of his most damaging punches in round 9, while ragdolling margarito by pushing him back every time he got cotto against the ropes.

margarito was coming forward yes, but getting hit more and more, while having even less pop in his punches.

whats there to discuss really? It looked grim for margarito.

Cotto did look like he was gasing out not as much as the first fight it should have gone on 1 more round to bad the dr stop it. they should have never let that extra dr be part of the corner. it was the last 3 rounds i wanted to see. Cotto should quit he is done as a fighter next live body he fights he wont win

No, because they're just relieved that the doc stopped it for them). In particular, Kellerman's comments to Margarito post-fight have to go down in the Most Humorous And Bald-Faced Biased Hall Of Shame.
Idiot, Cotto's face looked exactly the same after the Foreman fight. Cotto fans are more pissed off than anyone about the fight being stopped. Because unlike your delusional views of the fight the 9th round Cheato was getting hammered with much harder punches. Cotto was changing his strategygoing after Cheato sitting on his puncheas and trying to knock him the *** out.

Cotto was pushing back Margo and wrestling him. Margo if anything was getting weaker. His head was snapping back with the jabs and his legs were unsteady. I wish it had gone longer

why that was the only chance marg had to hurt him

manny steward's a punk he's just pissed all the best fighters he works with end up leaving him coz he's such a prick

Really, "idiot"? That's how it works here when disagreeing? LOL, noted. Anyway, the Cotto fans sitting all around me at MSG seemed relieved (not pissed) when the fight was called. A few even started to roar with delight when Cotto's glove needed attending earlier, thinking that the fight had been called. To me, Cotto was "changing his strategy" towards holding and running because he had nothing left.

I too had Cotto ahead on the cards and he had a brilliant game plan. It was well executed. I am slighted ashamed to admit I was pulling for Margarito so I suspects that biases me to some degree. I did see Cotto starting to struggle in patches when Marg landed on him. I was pissed when the fight was stopped because I wanted to see if Cotto could survive. Sure he was landed great shots, but it appeared (biased I know) that Cotto was running as much as he could. I am not criticizing this tactic because it clearly worked. I don't know if Marg could have applied enough firepower to win in dramatic fashion, but Cotto was robbed of a more satisfying victory. Clearly or this topic would not even be discussed. Cotto fought a brilliant fight.

Worst case scenario Cotto would have clinched and coast to an easy UD ur post is senseless.

I would have loved to see Cotto beat Margarito proper like he himself was beat. But that is maybe too barbaric a way of thinking.

I suppose if Margarito wasnt nearly blind it would have been allowed to come to its natural conclusion with Margarito flat on his back.

People are idiots saying that Marg was coming on. Cotto was "running" a lot earlier in the 9th and that's all the Mexicans remember. I think Cotto got trapped in the ropes and clinched Marg then landed a quick combo on the break. The next minute of the round Cotto started teeing off doing it multiple times. He hit a three punch left hook combo like someone said and Marg's knees buckled slightly. You could tell he felt those three punches and just like everyone else said Cotto was going for the KO. He might have got it too, but Marg simply would have refused to go down in NY. I would prefer 3 more rounds of an extending beating to a KO anyway, that scum deserved everything he got and some.
