btw, arum is right, boxing should go back to the old school way of doing the official weigh-ins...of it being done on the same day, i'd say 2 hrs before the fight...if we could go back to the old school way, you'd see current boxers fighting one or two division above what they are currently fighting in...no more this nonesense of having to cut/make weight...this would make both fighters almost basically even when it comes to weight of the fight.

It is impossible for Sergio to go down to 147lbs.....even at 150lbs would be disadvantageous for him.....but to be fair for both let them meet half-way.......same day weigh-in at 154lbs....

Arum has to be misquoted on this. Because all I've heard him talking about the last couple years is doing what the commission mandates. He would never put a stipulation in a fight contract that varies from the legistated commission rules.

Really? You want Pacquiao fighting at a weight of 147, and his opponent is 175? Fact of the matter is, Martinez should not be going down in weight and fight small fighters. How about fighting people in his own weight class. If he wants the money fight with Pacquiao, he will have to agree to a fair compromise. He is the one chasing the money fight, he will have to make the compromise. I don't see anything wrong with a same day weigh-in, as long as both parties agree to it. And I have a feeling Martinez will do just that and more just to get that fight. Manny isn't here to prove anything else. He is here to entertain, unlike Floyd who want to give his fan a WWE kind of entertainment.It's not like Manny is fighting for a the #1 p4p.He could care less about p4p rankings.The dude is at a point in his career where he is just cruising to retirement. That's why Arum mentioned that it is not necessarily be with the Las Vegas Commission.....maybe New York or Texas that may authorize an "old school" same day weigh-in

150lbs is just a proposal from Arum.....surely there will be negotiations and it will come to a compromise weight.
