I didnt like what Steward was turning Cotto into anyway. He was turning him into a passive boxer. Dawson pretty much said the same thing about Steward. Bring back the old Cotto. The relentless body puncher who would go for the kill once he had you wounded.

The same old Cotto that Margarito smashed in 08. Cotto needs a disciplined style to deal with Margarito because Cotto power ain't stopping Margarito unless Pac took alot out of Margarito but I think Pac took alot out of both.

I dont think its about Cotto being cheap. I think its more of Cotto not bonding with Stewards style.

Cotto went 2 and 0 with Steward and even won a title (Not vacant). That was Cotto's first non vacant title if I'm not mistaken.

don't you understand? cotto can't fight like he did the first 6 rounds for 12 rounds straight! if he tries that, he will get smashed and quit on his knees again.

that's why he needs steward to give him the right gameplan and to teach him how to hold when he gets tired.

at this point in cotto's career i don't see how anyone can change anything about him,the guy fights the way he does,he's over thirty already,if he were a 20,21 year old it's different

Yeah and that didn't help him at all the first time around. Cotto has to fight not like the first 6 rounds of the first fight. Cotto has to fight a whole new fight. I would prefer Cotto to fight like Mosley did against Margarito then he did for the first 6 rounds of his fight with Margarito because Cotto couldn't stop Margarito's pressure no matter how good he was boxing.

I Think Cotto made the Right Decission. Because Steward had another Fight for December 10 plus he didn't want to show up on time. That's without saying the times that he will leave the Camp to go train the guy that fight on December 10. Diaz might be no as good as Emmanuel Steward but might be have what is necessary to beat Margarito and Miguel Saves 50k plus have a trainer with him 24/7.

If you guys really think this is about money then your ******, you think Cotto gives 2 shlts about 50k when he's in the millions making per fight? Do you think if Cotto and Stewards trainer/student relationship was at its best, Cotto would let him go over 50k? Obviously its not so Cotto had to move on. A spanish speaking trainer is best for Cotto right now because they would be more understanding with each other. Cotto IMO made the correct decision here.

Problem is, his stamina wasn't where it needed to be for that strategy. Constantly backpedaling, and throwing tons of combos over and over again against a top class pressure fighter like Margarito, is VERY taxing on stamina. And to make matters worse, Cotto completely ignored throwing body shots to slow down Marg. He also didn't clinch as much as he should have.

Pac was able to soundly outbox Marg because he himself has amazing stamina, probably more than Marg. Pac also mixed in good bodyshots.
