Do you think if Cotto and Stewards trainer/student relationship was at its best, Cotto would let him go over 50k? Obviously its not so Cotto had to move on. A spanish speaking trainer is best for Cotto right now because they would be more understanding with each other. Cotto IMO made the correct decision here.
    We shall see soon enough.

There has to be something more...maybe he didn't like the style, or the pace or something. Isn't Steward the type of trainer to let you lay down if you ask for it.

I don't know, story sounds suspect. Sounds to me like Steward was wanting a bigger cut. Coincidently, both fighters that dropped him in the same week are both in A). the biggest fight of their lives and B). their most financially lucrative fights ever

      Thank you!!! /thread

If you believe that unknown trainer is worth only 50k more than Steward....

      Think about it,,,

          We'll see

if this cuban amateur boxing guru is able to bring a smidgen of that style to Cotto, then it'll be interesting. All those Cubans at the highest levels that he's been apart of have amazing stamina and fluid boxers.

But people keep saying that Cotto has to fight the Mosley type of fight, problem is...Cotto has never clinched and throwing that into it now would be bad. He needs to simply do what he failed to do the first time, hit that body and nothing more.

He spent more time being amazed at the pretty combos up top and the damage he was causing instead of realizing that Margarito can eat punches all day upstairs, but in the body...he's extremely vulnerable. I think the boxing rule is that if a guy is invincible in one area, he's vulnerable elsewhere.

Agreed. He needs to go to the body early and often.

Remember what Shane said after fighting Margarito: he hit him with a hook to the body in the first round and heard Margarito grunt as if he was in serious pain, which took Shane by surprise. Most fighters wouldn't be that vulnerable early on, but Shane was basically saying he had Margarito beat by landing that very first body shot, and he was surprised at just how easy it was to beat him...

Emmanuel comes off as a honest douchebag. Like too honest lol.

But wow... if this is true... this confirms that Cotto is indeed still a cheap skate... But I think Dawson hurts more from losing Steward than Cotto does.

I'm really leaning towards betting points on Hopkins...

First it was because Cotto wanted to be train early, and now this. Which is it, Steward?

Dumb, dumb move by both guys as these are especially critical bouts for them.
