          Again, another completely different situation.

In 1991, Ray Leonard had an absolutely clear indication of rapid rapid decline.

He had been in 2 wars with Duran and an almost career ending war with Hearns before his orginal retirement. Which is more punishment than Floyd has ever taken in his career for starters.

Came back, was CLEARLY in a state of decline, (obviously) then years prior to the fight with Norris didn't look great against Donny Lalonde going damn near life and death with him and then lost to a faded Tommy Hearns.

And we're talking about Terry Norris here, a solified HOF'er, one of the greatest Jr Middleweights of all time who looked pretty good in his last few fights as opposed to Ray Leonard. A level that I doubt Ortiz ever see's.

Floyd fighting Ortiz is more like Leonard fighting Lalonde than it is fighting Norris (Even though it's not really the same)

If Floyd looks bad in this fight against a fighter like Ortiz then it's clear he is on the rapid decline. Even if he wins.

          • I see alot of people saying that Victor is "not that guy" and saying that he is mentally weak...

But there are two quotes that come from two boxers that relate to this topic....

Marvin Hagler "It is hard to get up and train when you are sleeping in silk pajamas"

Bernard Hopkins "Its hard to stay hungry when you have a refrigerator full of food"

I dont care what anyone says, a 34 year old Mayweather who hasnt fought in over a year, against a younger fighter who is more hungry, has more power, and is more determined is a dangerous fight.

You dont just get back in the ring, take a hard punch after a year long layoff, and not let have an effect on you.

Floyd WILL get hit, and it is how he takes the punches that is the key in this fight. If this was Floyd a few years ago, or even Floyd coming off of a tune up, I would give almost no chance to Ortiz. But Floyd will have to get used to getting hit again WITHOUT head gear by a man who has more power than anyone Floyd has been sparring with. I think the early rounds will pose a big problem for Floyd.

I may even go as far as saying that Floyd may be down on the cards or the fight will be REALLY close before Floyd stops him in the 10th round.

            • Bumping this thread after Ortiz gets gatti'd will be funny.

But do really any of those 2 quotes should be mentioned about Floyd?

From all accounts he's still one of the hardest working fighters right now. Is he not?

Most of the ones giving Ortiz a hell of a chance in this thread are Floyd fans.

Not sure if Floyd Gatti's Ortiz. But, after Floyd wins, most on this thread are going to make the win better than what it really is.

                    But, I guess.

To be honest , he has a chance. He's a young guy with good power and he can take a good shot. One punch can make all the difference for Ortiz. Still , i think he will lose.
