Oscar was actually holding his own against Hopkins and even Hopkins wasn't sure if he was ahead or not before the round where he caught him with the liver shot.
Definitely agree that DLH lost to Sturm. I've been saying that for years but many people are dishonest when it comes to fanaticism.

As far as DLH winning, the biggest factor of any success that DLH might have enjoyed in his fight with Floyd came from the fact that he came in around 175lbs on fight night. He was clearly bigger than when he fought Hopkins and commentators made mention of it as well.

A prime DLH would have come in at 147lbs and relied on his speed and counter-punching ... both in which he would have been outmatched.

I don't know why, but when writing responses to this topic people tend to forget that DLH came in at 170lbs+.

As far as DLH/BHOP goes, when have you known BHOP to KO people? He's not known for it. He doesn't carry that kind of power and never really has. So saying that DLH was "holding his own" against BHOP really isn't saying much. Everyone holds their own against BHOP.

Trinidad did. DLH did. Winky Wright really beat BHOP. Taylor did. Hell .. Pavlik got beat but it wasn't like BHOP destroyed him. BHOP doesn't fight like that. He isn't overly fast. He isn't powerful at all.

In fact, DLH might have been the only big name mope to get stopped by BHOP. If you look at what Hopkins has done, most of his TKO's came by way of referee waving the fight off because of him overwhelming an opponent. He rarely ever KO's anyone and NEVER a top rated champion.

The only chance that DLH had against Mayweather IMO is the same chance he had against Sweet Pea: a robbery. And I personally believe that Floyd is much more offensive minded that Sweet Pea and just as good if not better defensively.

DLH struggled against Trinidad and Quartey and was beaten by Mosley twice. There's no doubt in my mind that a prime Floyd would have beaten a prime DLH, Trinidad and Quartey. Punching plodders with little movement who don't handle angles well.

DLH would have had the best chance among the three style-wise, but he would have folded like he has in every major fight against prime champions that he's ever had.

Look at his record. You'll see what I mean. The guy has lost to every major prime talent, and the ones that he beat(Pea, Quartey, Sturm) were gift decisions that he received.

To be honest Benny, I don't even have a huge dislike for Oscar.

I mean, I don't like Oscar. As in I'm not a fan of him. But I don't hate him.

Oscar was a good fighter no doubt and a definite HOF'er but I just feel he is very overrated.

Stuidly overrated in the 90's and still is now.

This thread clearly shows the new era are just as much in love with Oscar as they were back then. For some reason.

This thread makes me feel like I'm back in 1997.

And I'm guessing that it's never going away considering the new fans are adopting it.

so true my friend...so true...i've already asked Reed to delete this ****ty thread but to no avail

          this DLH

is a much different DLH than the one that fought Mayweather and Pac.
Did a better job than Mayweather against Hernandez.

And if part time Oscar who only fought once in the 3 previous years against Mayorga who is always willing to be hit can take Floyd to a SD then what does a prime Oscar without the coke and alcohol do to him?

          • Oscar still falls short to Floyd. Too much speed n movement for Odlh! He would have a lot better chance against Pac but still not sure!?....Oscar gets overrated on here. No doubt he wz good but imo I feel he should of lost the Quartey n Pea fights. One of his biggest wins is Vargas who already wz punished by Tito

Some people conveniently overlook that Oscar had all of the advantages in the Mayweather fight. The weight, glove size, ring size, the large majority of the crowd, and still lost.

I wouldn't pick him over either fighter (Mayweather,Pacquiao) prime or out of prime.

Oscar wasn't on Coke when he fought Mayweather. You do know they test for that don't you? Of course not. I'm used to reading your ridiculous outlandish post.

Also, Delahoya said he only started using Coke 2-2 and a half years ago. Do the math.

I thought he was on the coke when he had his pics taken, wasn't that 2007.

It clear Oscar was a shell of the fighter he once was when he fought Floyd, but still pushed him all the way.

Just think what a prime Oscar does to Floyd.

At 154lbs they use 10oz gloves, what rings size did Mayweather want? The crowd always want Mayweather to lose.

All of these things are minor, compared to Oscar being a part-time boxer well past his best and had one fight in the previous 3 years.

Huh? He beat Mayorga a year before that fight.
