BIG DUNN you are sort of becoming more like SMALL DUNN in my estimation. I used to think highly of you. Why is it a good question, especially as it is directed to me, who am, as I've said, THE WRONG PERSON, to address these remarks to.

I care nothing about who would win or lose in a matchup, just whether is would be a good fight or not. True I have a distaste for Mayweather, but that is because of his frequently displayed lack of character, which just brings down the tone and class of boxing, which should be the noblest of sports, and prized by Sportsmen everywhere.

Have I been writing here all these years and just NOT getting mt pints across??Has it all been for nothing?? If so, I can easily cut down on my output since if no one pays any attention (as I strongly suspect) there is no need for me to write anything, because the facts I quote are ignored anyway. I'll have to think abou this.

      Apologies for the omissions.
And what about Kid Chocolate and Manuel Ortiz. I think the RING Magazine I have with his picture on the cover is the earliest one I have.

And I think Floyd Patterson, who was only a lt. middleweight turned into a heavyweight, would have carved up Mayweather into collettes de boeuf.

I thought it was a good question because you are not as nuetral as you appear. Besides, if floyd is such a blip why are you discussing who is better than him. Every old fighter in the HOF is better than a super fast, incedibly smart, technically sklilled fighter with an abnormal reach for his size.

LOL. Calzaghe, Pryor, Galaxy and Calderon over Mayweather? Come on man.

Not to forget Carlos Ortiz and perhaps Flash Elorde. Ike Williams for sure. All the fighters I've mentioned were about 5 times as TOUGH as Mayweather, and he would never be able to stand up to what they would throw at him, they would hunt him down, and could walk through anything he had to bring. And you couldn't mention Kid Lewis without Jack Britton, they fought each other about 20 times on more or less equal terms.

I'd back every one of the guys I mentioned, many or most, ATG's, to chew Mayweather up. He doesn't have the kind of skill to handle someone who actually comes to FIGHT, not to manoeuvre. Slick tricks didn't work with these guys, you eventually had to stand and fight. Why, Barbados Joe Walcott would kill him in the ring.

Where would you rank Mayweather on an ATG list p4p, top 100, 200?

The reason I'm discussing who is better than Mayweather is because I was asked. It's a subject for discussion, in case you missed the meaning. A poster began a topic, and in the spirit of the topic I posted my candid opinion. Is that forbidden these days?? Your snide comment about past boxers doesn't become you, because if you knew more, you'd realise that every style and trick and gimmick that fighters today employ, were already being used a hundred years ago. And many more that have been forgotten.

Perhaps you have been misled by the stilted pictures of the late 19th century boxers before the Marquis of Queensberry Rules became universal, who would pose in that stiff, both feet planted, both arms extended with both fists upturned, and without gloves. As well as Jim Corbett and Peter Courtney antics for the camera. incidentally just a week or two ago I was reading an article about why they turned their fists UP instead of (as presently) DOWN, and it made a lot of sense.

Did you ever see a picture of a family taken in those days ........ They looked exactly the same, stilted and unnatural, with the father sitting, with his neck clamped in a frame, his hat on his knee, his wife atanding with her hand on his shoulder and the other children suitably arrayed around them as the photographers of the times thought proper. But that didn't prevent them from producing YOU......Did it??
