How badly would a defeat to Ortiz affect Mayweather ATG standing.

Floyds main body of work was done below 147. After that there's a lot left to be desired. And who really gives a ***** about how many weightdivisions or lineal titles he has had? What matters is who he fought and those he didnt fight because everybody knows that Baldomir was a joke. Lineal title or not. Same with JMM at WW. P4p fighter or not. Etc.

I'd think that you could find 50 fighters greater than Floyd between 126 and 175. There's just so many.

I have around the high 40s to the early 50s at the moment, but a loss to a fighter of Victor Ortiz standard would make have drastically downgrade my opinion on Floyd.

If Mayweather lost to Pacquiao, there would be no shame in losing to the greatest fighter of his generation and would maybe drop a few places.

But losing to Ortiz he could well drop outside the top 100 for me.

For the record I think he will beat Ortiz quite comfortably, perfect style, experience and level of talent for Floyd.


Where do you rank Floyd on your ATG list and where would losses to Ortiz, Pacquiao, Martinez and Khan drop him to on your ATG list?

Floyd at the moment: ATG 45-55
Floyd if he lost to Pacquiao: ATG 55-65
Floyd if he lost to Martinez: ATG 65-75
Floyd if he lost to Khan: ATG 70-80
Floyd if he lost to Ortiz ATG 95-105

You can't even name 100 fighters, let alone rank them. The only thing you can't debate is that he's been one of the greatest fighters of his generation. Everything else beyond that wouldn't be an educated opinion. You'd be spewing someone else's opinion of fighters you've never seen.

As for the other Floyd bashers in the thread, why do you guys have to discredit every boxer other than the one you are a "fan" of? If everyones so b level and overrated and all that other **** maybe boxing isnt the sport for you... Yes he shouldn't lose to Ortiz, but if he did then you would have to think have we all been overrated Mayweather.

He would fall quite considerably unless he redeemed himself in other fights.

A loss to Pacquiao he will fall but by not a lot because Pacquiao is truly a great fighter and there would be no shame in losing that fight, I would applaud Floyd for even taking the challenge.

He's the only fighter from any of the 90's Olympic teams left in the game. He's raised most of the guys on here from outta their parents house into college as no worse than a top 5 P4P fighter, and a loss on the tail end of his career to a legit strong guy 10 years his junior makes his career overrated? No, that's not what i'm saying... i'm talking about fighters who can beat him by their style of boxing, like a prime Mosley. Norton and Frazier gave Ali problems, Ali had to go through a broken jaw against Norton, and he did risk is health against Frazier. Mayweather did not fight prime warriors like that. Pacquiao should be it, now that they are both in needs of money ! lol !

What makes Pac the apex for Floyd as far as a prime warrior? So no love for an undefeated, 6 foot power puncher, with 30 ko's on his resume fighter like Diego when they fought? Just admit, Floyd has fought guys the average fan gave a legit shot at beating him. And when Floyd made it look too easy, they moved onto the next flavor of the month. There's a million and one posts in you guys history talking about how an undefeated Hatton who mauled Kotsya and possessed what you guys think is the key to beating Floyd (pressure) would run over Floyd. I'm not into the hate thing... Floyd needs to fight Pac, no BS. Mayweather is a great fighter, but as a boxer, i'd like to see the best against the best.

Fights i don't won't to see, are fights like Haye vs Klitschko, but who can the slow and easy to hit Klitschko can fight ? The weekest HW division of all time.

I want to see Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Bute vs Ward, not Mayweather against a poor copy of Gatti.
