Arum, Trampler, Ariza, and Roach, have all done a masterful job, as has Manny.

No it wasnt. Even if Floyd didnt retire, he would be avoiding the Cottos, and Margaritos of this world, and Pac would still be beating them.
So Pac is a greater fighter than Floyd because he beats more dangerous people than Floyd ever has.

Well to be honest no one was saying that Pacquiao was P4P#1 before Mayweather left. None of the hype was there for Pacquiao other than his wins over Barrera and Morales who beat him once.

At that point, boxing had a legitimate P4P#1 who didn't need hype and catch weights to make a name for himself. Floyd never asked for special advantages like rehydration stipulations. Floyd never got beat by an aging B fighter either. Floyd had also never been knocked out by a C and D fighters.

So once Floyd took 2008 off, boxing desperately needed a star to be the face of boxing. There are few if any boxers competing today who have the credentials of Floyd Mayweather.

So boxing and the boxing media made one up.

It only behooves Pacquiao to avoid a fight with Mayweather. If Mayweather loses against Pacquiao, it won't change the fact that Floyd was the most dominant boxer since Roy Jones. Floyd fought the best in every division and came out unbeaten.

One win or loss does not make a career.

However, when you're career is largely predicated on 40 fights in a secluded corner of the world against men that NONE OF YOU or the majority of the world has ever heard of, competing for five vacant belts and using catchweights to hornswoggle the boxing world into believing that you are more formidable than you really are then yes ... one loss can completely destroy your career.

If Pacquiao takes the tests and loses, people will just assume that he couldn't pull the trigger without the juice.

If Pacquiao doesn't takes the tests and the fight happens, people will just assume that Pacquiao had the kool-aid in the veins.

Only by taking random USADA tests and winning in the same fashion that he has against EVERY OTHER BOXER will people believe that Pacquiao has been winning by talent and hard work alone.

Manny's fcuked. He knows it. Arum knows it. Roach knows it. Manny had his fcuking trainer get on the mic at the end of one of his fights to make a plea to let the state athletic commission handle it.

Arum has offered Mayweather tens of millions of extra dollars to forgo the tests and let Manny drink his wolverine milk for their fight. Then he had the audacity to release a statement to the press telling how much money Mayweather turned down to fight Manny!

Oh how the **** has hit the fan and blown up in Arum's face. He assured Manny that no one would notice that he's fighting Marquez for a third time and 3 years too late. Hahahaha .. even Arum knows that the boxing world is littered with weak minded peasant fans and pundits who continue to ride the Pacman express until he gets thumped out again like he did against Morales.

Then what? Peasants will say that "the little guy had a good run", but historians will ask "Well who the hell did this guy beat when they were on top?" Historians will ask "How many champions did this guy actually face?" Historians will ask "Why did he compete for so many vacant titles?"

Five vacant titles compared to three championship belts he won over legitimate champions.

5>3 in terms of number of belts, but only three of them are legitimately CHAMPIONSHIP belts. Fighting another contender DOES NOT make you a champion.

Call me a hater or whatever. The truth hurts and there are a lot of peasants on this site who willingly allow themselves to be misled for the so-called "glory" of their favorite fighter. Pathetic.

Real fans don't exaggerate for ANY fighter. If its on his record, then just state the facts. If its not however, leave the science fiction alone!

Rubbish, Cotto was damaged goods. He was badly faded, it was obvious that he had slipped as he had looked very shop-worn in the last three fights. Plus, he had no trainer and was disadvantaged on the scales. He was a cracked egg.

When is the last time Pac fought an opponent who was right on top of his game?

Cotto is Mannys best win since the controversial Marquez victory.

You just gotta love Lenny's loyalty; Pacman is a "good little fighter" and Vic is a "tremendous fighter".

Floyd retiring when he did, leaving the DLH rematch and rumored Hatton rematch on the table, allowed Pacquiao to fight those guys. Manny went on and dominated, thus propelling his rise to superstardom and adding to his legend. Then he fought Cotto, a guy many wanted to see Floyd fight.

Yes, Floyd leaving boxing when he did is what opened the door for Manny.
Yeah.... cuz Floyd was willing to fight Cotto and Margarito right ? Do you forgot the line:

"We don't fight Cotto cua he lives in Puerto Rico"
"We don't fight to prove boxing fans who the best is"

Let's be real, in 2008 Manny Pacquaio was a great 130 lber fighter coming off what most considered a loss to JMM. He moved up to lightweight to fight David Diaz (I just threw up in my mouth a little) and had nothing to look foward to but fights with the likes of Casamayor and Campbell, who were atop the lightweight division. His oppoertunity to fight DLH came when Mayweather pulled outta his rematch with DLH to "retire." That is where Pac's rise began. And now that he not only beat guys like DLH and Hatton better than Money led many people to believe that he could be the one to beat the guy they hate. The dislike of Mayweather has made stars (on a much smaller level) of guys like Cotto, Margarito, and an aging Mosley because they who the hope guys. Now, Pac is the new hope guy on steroids, no pun intended.
I have seen some really ****** comments on this message board, but this, by far is the dumbest, most ignorant and just plain ****** comment I have ever seen on this board. You would have to be the worse kind of idiot to say that Cotto, Margarito and Mosley became stars because of fans dislike of Mayweather. First of all, Margarito never was and never will be a star. The only victory against a top tier opponent that he has on his resume was against Cotto, and in light of the loaded gloves incident against Mosley, that victory is in dispute. Mosley achieved is stardom by dominating the lightweight division and then beating De La Hoya twice and to a lesser extent Vargas twice and Margarito. Cotto is the product of great marketing and matchmaking. None of these guys success, or in the case of Margarito (lack of success) had anything to do with Mayweather. Pac became as big as he is by: beating Oscar de la Hoya: through very clever matchmaking that kept him out the ring with boxers who would actually beat him; excellent marketing by Arum; very poor, subjective and outright-biased coverage by the boxing media: and, last but not least, Pac's use of steroids. His rise to fame had nothing to do with Mayweather, but I agree with Ellerbe that Mayweather's absence helped Pac.

To claim that any of these guys or Pacquaio became stars because people dislike Mayweather shows just how ignorant of anything boxing related that you really are.

pac fought bad fights ..fights everyone knew he would win because the opposition was shot...now that mayweather is back no one is talking about pac anymore..even pac fans create more threads about mayweather than about pac..it's a fact..it's all about mayweather right now

i think floyd's lay-offs did in fact help both pac and floyd...

in floyd's absence, pac doing what he did in spectacular fashion, became the face of boxing...

floyd, who was the p4p # 1 b4 pac, for one reason or another, appear to wish to reclaim the spot...and started on his come back trail, again...

noises both camps made i think are just a prelude to the meeting of the two in the ring...

and this again, sort of also help boxing, in general...

hope it comes about may 2012...
