If Cotto beat the version of Mosley that Vernon Forrest beat then yes. But that is not the version of Mosley that Cotto beat. Cotto beat still good to very good Mosley but not the HOF version of Mosley.

      I don't think so.

Not when their are fighters like Pone Kingpetch, Eddie Booker, Tiger Jones, Cocoa Kid etc etc etc aren't in yet.

And just don't think he has done enough.

But he probably will in the end.

agreed he isnt right now...but being the first puerto rican to capture titles in 4 different weight classes (if he gets to fight chavez) and redeeming his first career loss should at least put him in to consideration

Margarito has as good wins as cotto. PRIME Cotto, Martinez, cintron, clottey, vs. mosley, clottey, judah, quintana, foreman.

I like Cotto a lot, but he needs to do more. Beat Martinez or clean the 154 division would be good.
cmon man how do u emphasize "PRIME" Cotto and not mention "GREEN" martinez, cintron hasnt done much himself except beat a game angulo, cotto holds a win over clottey when fighting with a cut eye for 10 rounds while margarito was getting outboxed for 5 rounds against clottey

cotto has been denied the IBF title at 147 twice, once against margarito and once against clottey...people often forget that

cotto has been rated #1 at 147 and 154 and he was top 3 at 140. margarito only holds notable wins at 147

like panda said...cotto isnt there yet, but he's not finished boxing either

In the end, Cotto will be a HOF because as long as he's a loyal dog to Bob Arum, Arum will make sure that Cotto's legacy is exaggerated.

As it is, Cotto shouldn't have been in line for a match against Pacquiao. Arum made that happen. Cotto did not really beat Clottey to those astute fans who watched the match. Arum made that happen. Arum set Cotto up to have a vacant title to lose to Pacquiao as well.

Then Arum put Cotto in position to fight for a jrMW title. Cotto won.

            But here's the kicker:

Why the fcuk is Cotto fighting Margarito at jrMW? I'll tell you why. Arum is taking care of his pets. Cotto has a shot at avenging his first loss. While Margarito has a shot at redemption. A win over Cotto at this point would legitimize Margarito's standings at this point in time and hopefully no one would remember that he tried to wear fist casts against Mosley.

Still, a win over Margarito will do nothing in terms of value for Cotto's legacy, but the Top Rank spin-machine will make it seem as though Cotto just beat Ali.

What peasants have totally missed is that Arum has exhausted all his WW chess pieces. So, in an effort to give the "new car smell" again, Arum's simply moved them up to jrMW to begin a new cycle of Top Rank tournaments starring Top Rank fighters! Watch for Clottey to make his jrMW debut if he ever comes back. Watch for Cintron to be in the mix as well.

            Go here: http://www.toprank.com/Fighters.dbml

You'll see how smart Bob Arum is. He's got plenty of spare chess pieces to move around at 147, 154 and 160.

As long as Cotto does as he's told, Arum will gladly take most of Cotto's money and get him matches for as long as Arum can sell a fight with Miguel in it. Then Miguel can retire as a HOF after having done virtually nothing thanks to his loyalty.

            BTW:

Just because you fight the best, doesn't mean that you ARE the best. So I don't care who Cotto fought. Its who Cotto BEAT that matters and at what standing they were when he beat them.

When you do the math under those guidelines Cotto ain't looking so hot is he?

No, I'll tell you why. Because It's one of the most anticipated fights of the year, arguably the most anticipated. (not among casualfans probably)

I'd blame Arum for pretty much anything, but this fight is very legit.

why does cotto deserve it over others whos not in it?

cotto needs to do more to justify a HOF spot, and to call him an atg is just so ridiculous.

                kind regards,

                Cotto-fan
If Stallone got in, Cotto will be in.

I don't think Cotto will be 1st ballot, but I have no doubt he'll be there. Besides, just take a look at the Hall of Famers that are there currently. Based on resume, there's a good amount of people that are questionable inductions.

Stallone got in the 'Non-participant' wing of the HOF.

Entirely different scenario to getting in the HOF for being a fighter.

Cotto vs Margarito II is a **** fight!! The first fight was a classic. This rematch is no good neither fighter was the same after the 1st fight. Since then they have both taken beatings. Margarito is basically shot and Cotto is very shop worn with very little tread left on his tires. This fight IMO will not come close to how great the 1st fight was. This fight reminds me of 2 old drunk uncles fighting at the family reunion with 1 uncle being more drunk than the other but both old and drunk!

theres history, theres bad blood, theres a possible scandal.

none of them are shot, they are simply deteriorating.

First fight was awesome, and their fighting spirit is still there.

We're not talking about B-hop vs roy 2 here.
