I just don't get with the mob mentality of the Margarito hype train from back then. Could PBF fought Margarito? Hell yes. Should PBF have fought Margarito? I can't really say because Margarito IMO was never close to being the guy to give PBF the fight everybody wants to see him in. Margarito was a very slow plodding no skill having fighter. Margarito was not a bigger version of Castillo. With people screaming for this fight IMO PBF would have done to him the same things he did to Baldomir. Instead people just saying damn PBF won again they would sit there and complain about how he won.

Fighting Baldomir or Margarito = same **** different toilet!!!!! Margarito vs Baldomir would have been a better fight than PBF vs either.

Considering there was zero evidence to implicate Margarito back in 2006-2008 i say yes he should have fought him..

He confronted Mayweather personally before the plaster scandal and before Cotto was in the picture. During when Floyd was fighting Mitchell, even the HBO announcers were calling for Margarito and Floyd to fight. By the time Margarito fought Williams, Floyd had already left TR and had just received his biggest payday against Oscar.

            Not necessary.

            Exactly.

Cotto can't do to Margo more than what Margo has already done to himself.

              Should have or could have?

The word "should" implies that Mayweather had an obligation to fight him as if he had done anything to make a case for himself being the best in the division while Mayweather was active. Mayweather only took off 2008 and was back fighting again in 2009.

If 12 months could make or break a fighter's legacy or his chances for a mega fight, well then ... how good was the fighter in the grand scheme of things?

Mayweather was and is the top dog. He fights the #1 and #2 fighters in every division, has been the king of every division he's competed in, and has remained undefeated in 14 years of activity against top opposition and contenders.

There is nothing that Mayweather "should have done" after fighting DLH. Mayweather had already become the #1 WW and then beat a HOF'er who had been campaigning as a MW.

I think at that point Mayweather had earned the right not to have to jump through hoops to prove anything. Its amazing how some people think that the P4P#1 fighter in the sport still has to chase and prove despite reigning for 14 years undefeated.

No king serves with the infantry. He doesn't have to. That's the point of being a king.

The bishops, rooks and knights fought it out on the 147lbs board and the piece left standing was Shane Mosley. That's who Floyd fought when Mosley was coming off of a KO win over Margarito.

Enough with the revisionist crap already.

This is not directed at you. As for the bold I don't go with stuff like that because networks have agendas and push fights sometimes that will make money not fights the put the best against the best. HBO announcers(Lampley & Merchant) really don't know ****. Lampley calls punches wrong every fight the whole fight and Merchant would rather be some poet and a hater if the fighters don't fight how he wants them to than a damn commentator. Truthfully Margarito wouldn't have done **** for PBF legacy. Cause nobody right now can tell me what a great boost in legacy a win over Margarito means!!

It shocks me how supposedly "knowledgable" boxing fans on this site worship Margarito and act as if he was ever an elite level fighter. I am so sick of hearing about how a f***ing proven cheater with 7 losses would have beaten Mayweather.

                      Its a big IF.

Plus the reasosn why Floyd didnt fight Margrito will always make it look to most people like Floyd ducked Marg.

Its all about why Floyd didnt fight Marg. And it has nothing to do with the plaster incident.
