Considering The Plaster Scandal, Should FMJ Still Have Fought Marg?

IMHO, I think the only fighter we could say FMJ didn't fight was Cotto at the end of 2007 and early 2008.

Why are people still hanging a Margarito fight over Floyd's head despite the Margarito scandal that was brought to light in 2009?

Looking back on things, that was the best move Floyd made in his career...

    Thoughts?

Makes the most sense but everyone sweeps this fact under the rug... or points to PWill fighting Margs in that time.

Any reasonable person will give the pass. He took the perceived bigger challenge, with much more prestige in victory at a higher weight class, as his alternative fight.

Margarito's biggest win was still prospect Cintron at that point. No way he was getting billing ahead of Oscar.. but all he had to do was keep winning, and he would've got his shot. Plaster fked everything for him. Got KO'd and just tumbled after.

Cotto should call out Margarito as a cheater in the press. If I was him I would embarrass him in public.

Do you think that when PWill fought Margarito, he took a lot damage during that fight that sent him towards the state he's in today (i.e sitting target taking lots of punishment)?

True, but I think Cotto is trying to take the high road and be the better man.

There's no evidence he used plaster in any fight before the Mosley incident so why should Floyd get a pass. It's an obvious duck. Everyone's excuse is he fought DLH instead for bigger money which is fine, but he could have fought Marg after. It's not as if he wasn't allowed to fight both of them. Calling Marg a cheat is fine but it doesn't change the fact that Floyd straight ducked him. Stop trying to feel better about it by making excuses after the fact.

he took mitchell, judah, and baldomir as his alternative fights. then he took retirement as an alternative again. none of those guys are close to margarito. why would you fight mitchell at all? why would you fight judah coming off a loss to a journeyman? then he turned down 8 million to fight margarito because he was waiting for delahoya but then 3 months later he accepted 8 million to fight baldomir because he knew he was a bum and he wouldn't ruin his big delahoya payday. so as you can see it was not the money but the risk that made him avoid margarito. it's called ducking.

                  That's true, there's no evidence.

But I'm trying to find the link where Richardson said Capetillo told Richardson "What's the problem? We always use it", after they were caught.

Hang tight, I'm trying to find the link. But if true, why would Capetillo say they "always" do it, if they only used plaster that one time?

There isn't even evidence anything was used in the Cotto fight. People think ****m is the first opposing trainer to watch his hands get wrapped.
