Then what are you basing your assessment out of? Performance? Because, Cotto 3 out of his 4 performance he has looked like blah.

I have nothing against Martinez. I like Martinez. He's one of my favorite fighters. Been following him ever since Oscar beg the WBC to take him off his mandatory. He became my boy since then. I laugh at some of these Johnny Comelately fans when it comes to Martinez but that's a different story.

I have something against posters/fans who are are so bias that they just use contradiction and don't even realize it.

I'm not criticizing Martinez for fighting Cotto. There's nothing wrong with that at all for Martinez to want that. However, there's nothing wrong with Cotto waning and going to fight Margarito. Cotto deserves no criticism for that either.

Yea you right. Especially since Ottke clearly beat guys that were on the level of Kessler and he unified and became undisputed champ in the division.

no criticism because it is a grudge match, which i already stated much earlier in the thread. otherwise why shouldnt it be criticized? because margarito deserves a title shot rite? im trying to see how u can compare cotto fighting margarito, outside of it being a grudge match, to martinez fighting cotto. one is the #1 ranked figher in the division and the other isnt ranked at all, i dont think. my point is if margarito and cotto did not have the history, would it be a legit fight??? hell no.

I don't see how this can be argued. Aside from the history, an unranked fighter fighting the champ would normally be total crap. who has Margarito beaten at 154?

                Fair enough.

My point is that Cotto is closer to the level of Margarito at this point in time than he is of Martinez.

Therefor it makes Martinez-Cotto a bigger cherry pick fight than what Cotto-Margarito is.

And, yes I do believe Pirog even though Martinez beats him quite handily is a tougher challenge than what Cotto would be at 154.

The SMW division was weak, I'll give you the fact that in the end of his career he did take on the toughest challenges that were available, but comon man after that win over Eubank instead of fighting the likes of Jones, Paz, and even Johnson he cherry picked for years. Fought a bunch of guys with padded records so he can make some money.

Cotto beat a undefeated Champ, then tried to fight another top 10 contender in Martirosyan, but HBO kicked the fight to the curb, so Arum had to fine somebody who can sell tickets with Cotto to make his PPV, thats why he fought Mayorga, plus Cotto had a huge layoff, then he is fighting the guy who put a huge beatdown on him.

I fail to see who Cotto has ducked really, K9 bundrage???? Ryan Rhodes???? Wolak???

                    You guys makes no sense!!!

I wasn't aware he tried to fight Martirosyan. If that's true then he deserves some credit. The thread was really just a response to all the people holding other fighters to standards they don't hold their own fighters to. If anything, Cotto is guilty of a little cherry picking, but he hasn't really ducked. I got a little emotional in my first post lol.
