****** thread. He made one defense. He fought Yuri Foreman for the belt. And he made an optional and easy money defense match against Ricardo Mayorga. Now, he is facing the same boxer who made him take a knee. This second defense match is a grudge match. Seriously, this is a tough fight.

At least, Cotto made a wise financial move to make more money before facing a tough fighter. What about Chavez Jr. and Canelo both fighters have been milking their fans by fighting bums and no-hopers. Cotto is a better fighter than both of them.

no im basing it off of getting batterd by mosely, taking over a year off. coming back and looking like **** against an unranked tomato can, then getting your face irreparably bashed in for 12 rounds. the chances of margariito not being shot is slim to none, ive went as far as to say ill bet on it.

Mayorga fight was garbage. That should fight should not have taken place.

However, the Foreman fight was legit especially for the debut fight in the division. And, the Marg fight is a grudge match. A rematch that has lots of controversy. And, both fighters are at the end of their career. So it's a legit fight.

So I don't get the criticism of Cotto at 154...Plus who's the #1 guy at 154? Dzinziruk? When the last time he won a fight?

So Margs goes from his best performance ever to 6 months later being shot?

Shane Mosley would always batter slowpoke Margarito. It's just the way it is.

As i said, Margarito most likely has a lot of gas left in his tank. He for sure is not proven to be shot.

That's my main problem with this thread. Who is he suppose to face? Alvarez won't fight him anytime soon. Angulo can't even get in the US. Who else would be a more legitimate threat? There's martinez, but he's the MW champ. That fight could still happen. Give it time. He's only going into his 3rd fight at JMW.

Mayorga fight is the work of Bob, and his shady dealings.
With that said, i think it was good for Cotto getting another easy fight. I think he needed it.
Basically a confidence booster / tuneup.

Difference is he took on a champ and then a heavy hitter, unlike others who fight cums as their rebuilds.

Now he is fighting Margarito, who is NOT a bad fighter at all. Theres lots of money and history in it.

So who did he duck? Are you serious, or just trolling the guys who claim floyd ducked cotto?
So what is it? He is fighting reasonable fights GIVEN his previous tough fights, and so he gets a pass. That sounds like not fighting the best. The only point I am making is that everyone at some point avoids fighting the best fighters. He could have fought Pwill at 154 prior to Pwill's loss, Martinez, or even Canelo. I'm just saying that all this ducking and cherrypicking talk is getting silly. Am I super pissed about Cotto's recent picks...Not really. I AM aggravated that everyone only sees what they want to see and not the truth.

i respectfully disagree. in his comeback fight and even in the pac fight, he did not look good. hes always been slow, he looked much slower than normal and he looked much less dynamic than the margs in the cotto fight. whatever that means, u can figure out for yourself. but margs's reign as a top fighter is long past and if he does have anything left, it aint that much. rite now, hes just a punching bag, imo. we'll see in the cotto fight but i doubt im wrong.

The point of this thread is to show that Cotto isn't this invincible champ that always fights the best. There are WAY too many threads about how awesome Cotto is right now.

So he was suppose to face Pwill coming off a loss? Face Canelo? Ha, he was too busy fighting his old shot brother. You think GBP would have matched them, let alone the past GBP/Top Rank feud?

He's in his 3rd fight with a new trainer at a new weight... He has plenty of time to face the #3 P4P MW fighter in Martinez.
