That was simply " insurance " to prevent Mayweather from intentionally coming in heavy and attempting to create a physical mismatch.
Mayweather would have agreed to a 100mil per-pound penalty, because the fight would be held at 147, so nobody was ever going to get a cent.
If Mayweather really wanted to kill that fight he would never have agreed to 50/50, nobody would have been surprised if Floyd wanted more money, and even now you can still argue that Pac aint worth 50% based on their individual numbers.

Pacquiao fought Cotto at 145LBS for a 147LBS title (but why DLH at 147LBS?)
Pacquiao fought Margarito at 150LBS for a 154LBS title
Freddie Roach just stated they would fight Martinez IF Martinez drops to 147LBS (why not 154LBS if Manny holds a title at 154LBS?)
