i don't think morales won but i've only seen the fight once. maidana did look terribly ineffective in that fight though. he's looked pretty crap in his last 3 fights was my point. he looked good against kotelik, ortiz, and cayo but he looks a lot worse now for some reason.Comment

I have a different slant on this fight. firstly I thought that Maidana just won it, Khan was very fast both punching and foorwork, ran around the ring like a racehorse, but his combinations were mostly ineffective with about 1 0r 2 at most of a 5-6 punch combination even partially landing. Maidana was slow by comparison and Khan had a HUGE advantage here which he did notmcapitalize on, wasting too much ring time in racing around and trying to imitate MannyP.
For me as soon as I saw that Joe Cortez was the ref the fight was already half spoiled. He seemed to centre most of his attention on Maidana, and allowed Khan to constantly push down Maidana's head and body, whereas, as usual, he seemed not to know the difference between infighting, a clinch, tieing up and holding. As soon as the fighters got close to each other he was already on the move in to break up what the fighters themselves would have fought their way out of, as it perfectly legal in boxing.
I was surprised that Khan was able to take such a battering and his chin seems to have improved tremendously. He cannot now be held to have a poor chin, although I believe a crisp puncher could KO him cold.
I kept hoping that one of them would accidentally miss and catch Cortez cold and drop him, wron of me I know but I always feel that way about him. He ruins every fight he refs.
He also breaks the rules every time he breaks the fighters. The RULES since INCEPTION have always stated that, when the ref breaks the fighters he should make them take ONE STEP BACK....... ONE STEP. He makes them take half the ring, and they need 3-4 steps to get close again. Good for the guy who needs the time to recover.......
And, although I repeated it about 5 times, I was not able to see the foul for which Cortez deducted that point, although I assume it was legit.Comment

Edit: I also forgot the damn point deduction for Maidana for actually softly hitting Cortez.I had Khan definitely winning. Especially if I have to honor the foul.
My main reason for wanting a rematch is because I do not think that Maidana will respect Khan's power and will be much more aggressive (if possible). I think that bodyshot was a lifesaver for Khan.
In addition to the cushion on the cards, it sapped something from Chino.
By the 10th Khan won 7 out of 9 rounds and also a KD.
So a lead of 6 rounds.
Now if you gave a 10-8 for the 10th and the other 2 rounds, that's the 2 round gap.
It was a clear 2 round 'win'.
If you gave just a 10-9 in the 10th and Khan the 11th then it's a much bigger gap of
5 rounds to Khan.
Remember in boxing when one gets a point, the other pays dearly because it almost feels like they lose 2 rounds if you know what I mean.Last edited by iPhoneKiller; 07-27-2011, 03:15 AM.Comment

Show me your round by round scorecard and I will pretty much break it down and tell you Which round your glasses were missing.I have a different slant on this fight. firstly I thought that Maidana just won it, Khan was very fast both punching and foorwork, ran around the ring like a racehorse, but his combinations were mostly ineffective with about 1 0r 2 at most of a 5-6 punch combination even partially landing. Also Maidana on the break with Cortez there, tried to lightly hit Khan and it gently touched Cortez. Maidana is a dirty fighter, I have seen him do a lot of quick dirty shots in numerous fights. I assume Cortez knew of it and he is also fairly strict.Comment

Oh and edgarg is clearly being petty with one step rule. How many refs make them step just once? I believe pretty much all do arms reach.Comment

khan is equally dirty in my book. dude holds fighters down by the neck when he grabs in to hold after every lunging combination. does this every single time. he also made a sneaky attempt at a headbutt in the closing seconds of the 6th against maidana. he should be deducted points more often.Comment

Give you your round by round to get 116 to 112 for Maidana.khan is equally dirty in my book. dude holds fighters down by the neck when he grabs in to hold after every lunging combination. does this every single time. he also made a sneaky attempt at a headbutt in the closing seconds of the 6th against maidana. he should be deducted points more often.
I just did a quick mock up on the scores to get Maidana winning 116 points.
To get that he had to win 10 rounds and a 10-8 in the 10th.
Khan won the first by 10-8 because of the KD and the 5th by 10-8 because of the points deduction.
It was 116-109 to Maidana,
I can not work out how 116-112 was given with the KD and point deduction.
Even if I didn;t give Maidana a 10-8 for the 10th it would have been closer.
Or if I give Khan a 3rd round of a 10-9, it would be 116-111 Maidana.
So Khan only won 3 rounds with 2 points extra.
I do not believe Maidana won 9 rounds.
So please do explain to me ROUND BY ROUND on your score card.Comment

I didn't see the fight been close that much, I had it 8-4 rounds for Khan, I scored the 10th round a 10-9 round to maidana, he didn't knock Khan down to deserve a 10-8 round and anyone scoring that a 10-8 round is just been generous to maidana.Comment
