do we KNOW if Lennox would've been as dominant given Vitali's comp as Vitali was against them... why does it have to be that Lennox fought the better comp therefore he's the better boxer with the better resume.. it's all bogus... just like it's NOT a given that Vitali fares just as well with Lewis' comp.. it's NOT a given Lewis is as dominant with Vitali's comp.. but we're all programmed to think Vitali is inferior to Lennox because of era & comp when It's Vitali that has MORE physical advantages over his opponents than even Lennox
by your rationale Deontay Wilder is more dominant than Vitali.

and thats just a plain silly thing to even think about saying. It felt painful just typing it, even as a sarcastic example.

level of competition is everything. fact is Vitali has lost against both the best fighters he faced, and Lewis and Wladimir both have beaten better competition.
You got jokes now... son. They both had scheduled meetings with Rahman. Vitali has one less ONE punch knockout to him. so i;d say he came out with the better resume vs him.
Vitali also has one less win over Rahman than Lewis. and, sadly, that version of Rahman would have been the best win of Vitali's career. some would say Sanders, but after all, Rahman knocked out Sanders...

As much as I like Vitali.

Lewis won the fight plain and simple. And to make it worse, it was a fat, out of shape, out of prime Lennox that beat a PRIME Vitali.

i don't see the big difference between 90s and 00s competition, both were about the same quality, and both a big step up fro the 80s

to me lewis ran from vitali after a doctor bailed him out of the first meeting, it was pretty blatant that he didn't want to go another 6 much less a fresh 12, but i still think lewis is one of the best HWs ever

you need to see the statistics allways in context. vitali dind't have the opponents lennox had and face to face he lost by way of tko. the scorecards would have only count at the end of the 12th round and vitali didn't make it that far. just deal with it.
Vitali Klitschko is after all a great heavyweight and would be very competitive in any era but he is simply not the best of all time. why cant you just accept it?

Lewis still should have rematched him. He should have just kept it real if he didn't wanna rematch him. Also, Lennox was arguably in his prime because he was fresh off redemption KO win over Rahman and the KO of Tyson - he was at the height of his dominance. Neither him nor Vitali had time to properly prepare to fight one another.

But it is what it is - Lewis shredded his eye to a million pieces and that fight definitely should have been stopped. Still not sure if I agree iwth the rule about NOT going to the scorecards if cut is caused by punch, though.

Because Lewis beat Vitali fair and square and also fought better opposition.

since Vitali fans love stats so much, Ill throw some fun ones out there. Only 6 of Vitali's wins in his career were over high level opponents(or top ten competiton)

that means only 14% of Vitali's wins are worth noting.
an that when facing top ten competition, Vitali only has a 75% winning percentage.

of those 6 notable wins, 5 of them were at least 10lbs above their optimal fighting weight.
Kirk Johnson, weighed 260, best at around 235.
Corrie Sanders, weighed 235, best at 225
Sam Peter, weighed 253, best at 243
Chris Arreola, weighed 251, best at 230-240
Odlanier Solis, weighed 246, best at 230s(should be even lower).

at least Gomez came in decent enough shape, but then again, he was a former Cruiserweight.

Lewis was on top of his game as much as he had ever been. He didn't have the proper time to prepare to fight Vitali, just like Vitali didn't have the proper time to fight him.

Lewis won by default, promised him a rematch, and then re-negged. . . Had hte fight gone to the cards Lewis would have lost.

I hate this argument but you have to see that there is unfinished business there that will remain unfinished.
