Must have been a weak era, if someone as mediocre as Greg Page won a world title and if Jimmy Young was considered a top heavyweight.
I would favour Jimmy Young and Greg Page over alot of fighters from this era.

I watched, and have most of Larry Holmes fights on tape, and I can say without doubt that he fought a boatload of less then elite fighters.

He did, but at least they for the most part had beaten top 10 fighters before Holmes fought him. The point of this thread is that Chisora has not.

If Wladimir ever fought someone with records of 19-8 or 10-2, we'd never hear the end of it from his haters like you.

          Larry Holmes world title opponents:

          Mike Weaver - 19-8
          Leon Spink - 10-2

Ossie Ocasio was 23-13 in his career.
          David Bey was 18-11
          Mike Weaver had 18 losses.

Those are NOT better fighters than David Haye and Sam Peter, not are they better than Eddie Chambers, Ruslan Chagaev, Sultan Ibragimov or Calvin Brock.

But you imagine Bey and Ocasio were great fighters because of your unconditional love for Larry Holmes.

the nba excuse is bull**** as well. when was the last time a skinny 6'6'' black man dominated the hw division?

I believe that Holmes career is a reflection of just how bad the heavyweight division was long before the Klit bros came along. With that said. I have to agree and say that the only reason Chisora should be at a World Championship fight is if he is sitting ringside as a member of the paying audience.

I would prefer that Wlad wait until Chisora has a few more fights.

I think Dimitrenko or Arreola (both Ring top 10 HWs) would be the best choices as Wlad's next opponent.

Please just shut up already. Numbers never tell as factual a story as quality of opposition. And most of Holmes defenses had already and would go on to continue and beat other top 10 fighters. Wlad has near 60 fights and he's going to fight a guy who has only 14 fights and who has NEVER beaten a top 10 fighter. Give it a rest already because that is just a sad joke!

Funny how you're trying to take the spotlight off Wlad (when that is who we're talking about) and shine it on another fighter. Lol, because Holmes didn't fight the best comp means its ok for Wlad to take BS fights?

The difference with Holmes career is he didn't have all the belts. There was quality in the era, but lack of cooperation between ABC orgs prevented one champion from fighting another.

How about beating a top 10 fighter?

You just said a few days ago that Wlad should fight Chisora, and I jumped on you about it then. What has happened to make you change your opinion?
