Do you not understand that they had a contract already drawn up for the fight and verbal obligations to fight each other after Baldomir? If the fight wasn't set in stone, then why did it go on AFTER Zab lost to a journeyman?

Judah’s promoter Don King and Mayweather’s promoter Bob Arum found a way to rework the contracts so that the fight could go on. Judah went from making a guaranteed $3 million to $1 million plus a percentage of profits and was simply happy to find himself immediately back in the spotlight following the Baldomir debacle.

Arum also said IN THAT SAME ARTICLE that Floyd could have fought Marg and then buyout his contract. Which would have still made the Oscar fight possible WITHOUT ARUM.

OK that's fine and dandy. But, what was he when Floyd still picked him after he lost to a journeyman?

Being rank #1, being the longest reigning title holder at the time. And, building the best WW resume of active WWs at that tiem.

Because, the champs are champs and are not in the rankings. Marg was ranked #1...Are you dis*****g this?

        That's what I'm asking.

Do you not know how to read? It says right there. They had to re-work if it's set in stone. What is there to re-work?

        • Mayweather and Judah has a verbal agreement. Not a signed contract that they HAD to fight after Baldomir.

After Judah lost to Baldomir, floyd COULD have fought someone else if he so pleased. But, he didn't. He honoured the verbal agreement.

And that, is the bottom line.

I know the difference because I deal and have dealt with contracts. My point is that, the fight between Floyd/Zab was a done deal no matter how you try to spin it because it still happened. It was signed verbally and that's why it went on. If there was no commitment, then the fight would have been off.

So you saying Floyd had to fight Judah. He could not have fought nobody else?

                • Jrosales, the fight between judah and mayweather was renegotiated, Cory Spinks was a fight that was being negotiated during the summer of 2006 long after judah/mayweather happened, mayweather fought carlos baldomir instead when he signed a one off deal with goosen/tutor promotions, Spinks was rejected after major negative press.

The Spinks fight was presumably a tuneup for 154 and oscar, not a replacement for judah.

Show me what article where Arum said that? Arum said that the fight with Oscar was not possible but sometime down the road. Aum hated Oscar and didn't want to do business with him like Arum is still doing now with other promoters. It is a known fact that Floyd Mayweather Jr was looking to land a fight with Oscar De La Hoya around the time Bob Arum was trying to get him to fight Antonio Margarito. Floyd told Arum that he would fight Margarito, if Arum served up Cotto/Hatton for 10MIL and a fight with Oscar for 20MIL. How is that ducking? When Margarito stepped to Floyd. Floyd was chasing Oscar and he told Margarito if he wants to fight, to keep winning and it would be greater later and what happened after? Margarito went on to lose to Paul Williams. I'm still curious to know how Floyd duck Margarito and Cotto, when Arum held the cards? Floyd became the Lineal champion at WW by beating Zab and Baldomir. How are those bad moves?

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

                    • To be honest, Floyd fighting Oscar at 154 coming up from 130lbs just a few years prior is a much better win than Antonio Margarito in any universe. Oscar still had a little something left at that point and at no time or place is Margarito a superior fighter. Add to the fact that he got caught cheating, to argue otherwise is a reach at this point.

Margarito is a disgraced fighter at this point, yes Mosley was also involved in cheating, but there is a key difference to wrapping your gloves and taking enhancement drugs IMO.

Grustler, no matter your opinion of him, makes a key point that alot of the margarito propaganda was brought about RIGHT when Mayweather was getting ready to leave bob arum.

Notice how mayweathers two biggest "ducks" are miguel cotto and antonio margarito, two fighters bob arum controls.

Notice how many bob arum fighters floyd has fought since, 0.

If Mayweather taking on Zab Judah is still a ****in issue when hes fought oscar, hatton, mosley and now Ortiz, then we need to re-examine another fighter who continues to take on beltholders who either are coming off a loss, or the results are skewed to his advantage.
