All due respect Mayweather and Leonard are an astromincally different set of fighters.Comment

I recommend you go back to 3rd grade and re read your teachers notes on reading comprehension. Notice I'm saying that it's something no one WOULD do. I'm not saying he's the only one in history. The names you people mention are ATGs yet you only put down Mayweather. Tell me who would do it? Right now there's no active boxer capable of perform against great level oposition after a lay off. The "best" right now doesn't take risks and he's active as fuck.4 years out and he put on a masterclass.
Ali came back from 3 and half years out and took on Quary.
Oscar came back from almost 3 year out to take the WBC light-middleweight title.
Are you still saying no one.
Seems like a lot of boxers have outstripped Floyd in that department, but you still stay in denial.Comment

Maybe. Let's hope he goes the Hopkins route and "leaves the best for last". Although I doubt Floyd fights in to age 46, because Hopkins is actually playing catch up with money as he admitted before. Hopkins is cashing in all the money he didn't get in his 20's-early 30s, which by that age Floyd was already his own man and has money to retire right now and be set for life.
Out of his last 5 fights, counting Ortiz: DLH, Hatton, Mosley, and Ortiz, I think those are all good competitive fights at the time he fought them. Marquez was the only match up I did not really like and that was just a tune up. Sure i'd like to see Pacquiao and Sergio on his resume, but we'll see what happens after Ortiz. Floyd has been unpredictable lately. Goes from fighting a LW, to the #1 WW. Goes on vacation for a year and half, comes back to fight a good young champion like Ortiz, instead of choosing Maidana or Guerrero for an easier pay day and fights that would be looked at as actual tune ups.Comment

The point being Johannes was claiming no one else can do what Floyd does. come back after a long lay off and challenge for a title or take on a top contender.
Many have done it more impressively.Comment

Not really. Leonard has admitted many times he decided to fight Hagler, while watching the Mugabi fight and noticing that Hagler was slipping. I ain't comparing Martinez or Ortiz to Hagler(no comparison), but neither of them are "slipping".Comment

Mosley was going through his divorce during the Margarito fight, which was Jan/Feb 2009. That was a whole year and half before the Floyd fight.
Stop rewriting history please.Comment

Also most of those boxers were forced to retire, Mayweather has chosen to.
Boxer have done it in the past and they will do it in the future.
But you like to think Mayweather is special, he is not, many have done much more.
Other have also been competely out of the game, Mayweather has always stayed in shape and has always chose to retire.Comment
