Important to throw more than one punch at a time, Floyd reacts to every punch thrown so doing that makes his job easy. Working on feints makes sense, like Mosley did- feinted with a jab to the body, Floyd reacted, Shane came over the top with a right hand immediately, worked twice in the 2nd for huge shots.

Working on blocking/defense wouldn't hurt either. Not hard for fists to find Ortiz's face

he's gonna have to jump on Floyd early...conventionally, having the extra weight and leaning on Floyd sounds like a good tactic but im not sure how defensively sound Vic's inside game is...Floyd fights well in the pocket and might do some good damage in there

but you never know with southpaws with handspeed and power...thus his 30% chance of winning IMO

Oh really? So Whitaker almost lost to Chavez? Lewis almost lost to Holyfield in the first fight?

Victor Ortiz did not 'almost lose' the fight with Peterson because anyone with the combination of; a grain of sense and eyes to watch the fight with saw that there is NO case for Ortiz losing that fight. Therefore, he did NOT 'almost lose'.

If anything, he quite clearly deserved the victory.

Having to break that down to you is depressing.

Anybody else see this fight as Mayweather-De La Hoya II, watered down?

Obviously, a couple of things are different between Ortiz and De La Hoya. De La Hoya actually had a good jab, he was lefty but fought orthodox, and De La Hoya didn't have great defense but was able to pick off a lot of punches with his glove, and finally De La Hoya had a great chin. De La Hoya is also bigger than Ortiz.

So probably this won't be as a competitive as Mayweather-DLH, but I think Ortiz will bring something to this fight that probably DLH didn't bring to his fight, and that's of course being a southpaw, and also Ortiz is more explosive than DLH, while DLH is more technical than Ortiz.

Because of this, I think Mayweather will be more dominant than he was against De La Hoya at 154. Not to mention the weight class.

I see people still sleeping on Ortiz that's why I wanted Ortiz to fight a Cotto or a Bradley at 147 before a mega fight.

just look at the skills and what Ortiz brings to the table and ignore that fluke Maidana fight

the Maidana fight wasn't a fluke...Maidana willed that fight to become a war and outgunned Victor...yes Ortiz has moved on but to dismiss its merit is ignorant

I think this is the 4th best fight for floyd that can be made

1st is pac, 2nd martinez and 3rd cotto

IMO this will be a one sided beat down, ortiz is the guy who got taken out by maidana and almost lost to peterson

mayweather will have no problem beating him as the gulf in class is way too much, not sure how many people will buy this, it certainly wont be competitive
get outta my thread loser..you said you wanted ortiz to fight manny to make hin top 15 atg..then floyd signs to fight him and you hate..cant stand posters like you..**** off..

Great fight! Hats off to Floyd for taking the best fight out there for him (besides Pacquiao). Victor is a great athlete with tremendous power, but he can be outboxed and he is a southpaw and vulnerable to Floyd's straight right hand. I like Floyd in this fight, possibly by stoppage. Floyd must be careful, but I think he pulls out the W.

I like how every body forgetting Ortiz knocked him down 3 times and was ahead on the cards. Ortiz never was cut in the eye like that before and obviously wasn't seeing Maidana right hand since he was just getting hit with everthing in 6th and yes Ortiz didn't have the heart or will to overcome that. Ortiz fought the wrong way that night

that fight was a Fluke because Ortiz beats Maidana 9 out of 10 times

This is what I was thinking when the fight was made. Ortiz was being built up to be the next Oscar before the Maidana fight. I believe DLH will help Ortiz a lot in the preparation of the fight. Maybe even give the game plan for Mayweather-DLH 2. Unlike Oscar, Ortiz can still "pull the trigger." Golden Boy Promotions and Victor Ortiz will have the boxing world in their hands if Ortiz can pull off the upset.

If the "possessed" Ortiz shows up then he has a shot for the upset. If the fans and media keep on hating on Victor, then he'll be extra motivated for the fight just like last time. So keep on doubting him if you want him to win. However, Mayweather has the faster hands and superior defense to put on a clinic.
