I was thinking about this, too. It almost certainly will get to him. He still comes off as too much of a "kid" sometimes. And I think that when Mayweather is in face, talking trash, that it's really going to bother him.
It's going to be interesting to see how he handles Mayweather trying to intimidate him.
that plus all the cameras for the 24-7, the extra press...all that will be new to himComment

Absolutely. I have touched on that a few times already in other threads.
His lack of jab will be a big problem and Floyd is inevitably going to reduce his output and Ortiz just has so many flaws to exploit.
But, it is one of the best options available and that has to be addressed in fairness.
I probably give Ortiz less than a 30% chance to be totally honest but I'm looking forward to it.Comment

Only way Ortiz can make this even remotely competitive is to jump on Floyd early and make it ugly. Use his weight (should be 160ish in the ring) and impose it on Floyd, put constant pressure on him, don't give him space to figure him out and time him. Important to throw more than one punch at a time, Floyd reacts to every punch thrown so doing that makes his job easy. Working on feints makes sense, like Mosley did- feinted with a jab to the body, Floyd reacted, Shane came over the top with a right hand immediately, worked twice in the 2nd for huge shots.
Working on blocking/defense wouldn't hurt either. Not hard for fists to find Ortiz's face

the lack of jab and Floyd's jab to the body is going to thwart a lot of Vic's offense..he's going to have to use his legs to employ an in and out tactic to get his punches goingComment
