Cotto did good, but fight fans who dont buy in the hype (especially around Wlad) know that Cotto was NOT as good as he was being hyped. Is he solid yes. Still young and can grow from this.

It's very nice that he showed an incredible amount of heart this weekend.

But....we're being told that this is the next GREAT fighter, & frankly....I don't see it. He should be mowing guys like Torres, big puncher or not, right down. It's not like Torres hit him once & hurt him....he REPEATEDLY laid heavy leather on this "technically brilliant" young fighter. I'm telling you now, Cotto is not the next Felix Trinidad. Tito was always far better than Cotto will ever be.

It's not his chin that's gonna do him in...it is his ROBOTIC STYLE. It's the way he fights that will see him EASILY beaten by the upper echelon of either the 140 or 147lb. class.
He just is too slow to get off. He has zero fluidity....everything, every punch/combo looks like it's been planned/thought out. This is fine, when you're not facing the best. But, when he faces someone like Floyd (right now a total MISMATCH), Htton, or Tszyu....I truly beleive you will see him handled with shocking ease.

I am not a "hater" of Cotto. I just have never been that impressed with him.

Let me add that Cotto didnt have a 15 pound weight advantage this fight either. They both weighed 140 (I have the fight available so people can download it off me, PM me if you want it). Scary! What is Corley weighed as much as Cotto that fight? Maybe a one punch KO?

Torres opponents were 60-200 roughly. Torres isnt good.

we have no idea how good he really is, whether you look at his past fights or not, HE HADNT LOST. and his knockout percentage was super high, so the fact that his past opposition ****** could just mean he was good but wasnt put in with anybody at his level, and he just demolished everyone in his way.

same with mayorga. same with maussa. dont say anything about him until you see him in with someone else.

oh, and a cotto-mayweather fight at this point would probably look really similar to mayweather-bruseles.

I agree, Cottos chin IS good. I dont know where the glass jaw thing came from. I have the fight downloaded and if you want it PM me. Cotto was shoved (not pushed or knocked) down. You will see this.

his OPPONENTS werent good. thats not his fault that he only fought in Columbia, but theres absolutely no way you can say he's not good just based off his opponents.

                reason?

he didnt lose to ANY of them, and knocked most of them out.

                think about it.

if you put sugar ray leonard in with the same opponents, sugar would achieve the same record most likely...you cant do any better against bad opponents than a perfect record and knocking out most of your opponents.

Honestly though, all Hall of Fame fighters start out at pro fighting bums with losing records. All of them.

The actual fight-time weights of both fighters = unknown.

In New Jersey, they do not reveal those weights. For all we know, Cotto weighed 155.
