Aside from the ability to recover Cotto is going to find himself in trouble as he faces the top fighters in his division.

I thought Merchant said it right when he called Cotto the Puerto Rican Arturo Gatti, Cotto will make for some good tv fights but to think he could eat a Zoo right hand and keep coming or even remotely compete with Floyd is just wrong.

Puerto Rican Arturo Gatti is damn appealing but certainly not what the Puerto Rican fanbase was looking/hoping for, long live Tito.

Wilfred Gomez, I think is still PR's most well rounded fighter. But that's my opinion.

Oh and as for Cotto, those who keep saying that moving up in weight will make him less "chinny", you're mistaken. Chins can't be trained to take harder punches. Especially when moving up to people with bigger fists and heavier weight.

****en a scap, ****en a. larry and his analogies ... far from the puerto rican arturo gatti, gatti never had that type of skill. i dunno about cotto recently though .... out of the gate dude was phenomenal ... recently he leaves a lot to debate over. aside from old gringo i think i'm one of cottos biggest proponents but man ... that was not the championship calibre perfromance that the people are waiting for. i can't debate with anyone over how he looked on saturday night, his hands were not fast as usual - his D was not there and again it was proven that there may be questions about his chin. cotto has lost something, hes still young so hopefully he can recoup. i disagree with anyone that says he should go to 147 - cottos build is made to order for a champ at 147, zab or margarito. with determination he can still get to the top of the food chain of the 140's.

It's easy to look phenomenal against people who aren't that good.
Cotto didn't show that against Torres, though.

I think, as some people have said before, Cotto has built up too much muscle. He now has power (as his body shots were killing Torres) but the speed is gone. The slight upper body movement he used to have is slower. I think he needs to take a 9 month lay off, let the muscles get leaner again, work on his twitch muscles when he gets back into training.

This was not the Cotto I used to know, pre-Corley fight.

Just like how Roy said when he was talking about Bruseles, who's stance is very similar to Cotto's...those guys put too much weight on their front foot. It's really hard to move your upper body back when you put so much weight on your front foot.

i just dont see how anyone can say he has a weak chin...

he got hit with a lot of clean shots from a power hitter (look at his knockout percentage) and he didnt go down until he was pulled down...and even then he kept coming.

hatton was knocked down by eamon mcgee, so he has a weak chin too?

its easy to just dismiss cotto because he had a little trouble with a few fighters, and then if he steamrolled thru all his fights he'd have roy jones syndrome where everybody dismisses his opponents, so no one will ever be happy.

cotto steamrolled maussa, and buddy now has a belt he got from HARRIS, who everyone said would beat cotto.

he steamrolled sosa who was no pushover.

he's beaten good fighters, but i agree he's not at a world-class level yet. his promoters have brought him along at a good pace, meaning everyone is curious to see him fight again...some want him to lose, some want to see if he's as good as he's hyped to be, but people still want to see him. thats good.

i dont think cotto can even hang with mayweather (at this point, who can?), hatton might smother him but itll be a closer fight, and with tszyu itll be competitive at this point in tszyus career.

Hatton was knocked down by ONE punch and he got right back up n it didn't hurt him at all..

Cotto was hit with a BUNCH of punches...

KO percentage don't mean ****, he probably fought a bunch of cab drivers..

and dont talk about torres as a nobody.

we have no idea how good he really is, whether you look at his past fights or not, HE HADNT LOST. and his knockout percentage was super high, so the fact that his past opposition ****** could just mean he was good but wasnt put in with anybody at his level, and he just demolished everyone in his way.

same with mayorga. same with maussa. dont say anything about him until you see him in with someone else.

oh, and a cotto-mayweather fight at this point would probably look really similar to mayweather-bruseles.
