Yes, and being 19 pounds heavy 23 days before a fight confirms it for me.

As good as Sergio is I can't see him fairing to well against the guys in the Super 6 (Arthur Abraham being the case in point). He is regarded as a small Middleweight, guys like Carl Froch might just stand over him at SMW.

He'd get mad props for the step up though!

160 is pretty much dead at the moment.

154 and 168 is where the money is at.

Martinez seems like a full fledged Middleweight now, but he may still be too small for 168. Although I think Martinez at 168 could be interesting.

If he feels like he can make 154 comfortably, Martinez should go for it.
There's zero money in 168 except Lucian Bute.

Sergio: speed, power, skills, and foot movement.
          Sergio against:
-Abraham, Sergio can just go in and out, "ambush style". He will be too fast for Sergio. UD by Martinez.
-Kessler, he is hittable and slow too. This will be like Sergio facing Dzinziruk again. UD by Martinez.
-Bute, Lucian has probably better speed than Abraham and Kessler but nothing fancy about him. Same thing, ambush style by Sergio. Bute also has been hurt before so i wouldn't be suprise by a KO win by Sergio but i see a wide UD.
-Froch, this would be a hard fight for Sergio. Carl is more of the aggressive than Bute, Kessler, and Bute. His foot movement is not great but it is decent. Hard to call on this one, maybe a split decision that could go either way.
-Dirrell, his a slick fighter and he will back up against Sergio. His gonna let Sergio chase him around, like the Froch fight. But Sergio is gonna try to cut him off and has good foot movement to land punches. I see a close but clear UD for Sergio.
Ward, he also has speed, skills, power, and foot movement. Ward will impose his will against Sergio and is gonna dictate the fight. UD for Ward.

          Just my opinion.

154, 160 it don't ***in matter, I don't see anybody in those division beating him right now too FAST, too SLICK, TOO DAMN GOOD!

he would box circles around ALL OF THEM...RIGHT NOW!

and stop trying to make him move up to 168...IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! If he wants to fight one of them it would probably have to be done with a CATCH WEIGHT

Sucks for him to make a low weight at 36 years old, that cut is gonna kill him. And at 168 he would get bullied around by giant 6 foot tall men that walk around at 190-200 .

Comen on Sergio. I think you could beat nearly all the big players up at SMW, with a hell of a couple of incredibly good fights with Ward and Bute. Just go for it!!!!!!
This whole "just move up" thing..... is waaay overdone.

You cannot look at one particular fighter and assume that is the norm.

Many fighters stay in one division their entire career, or prime anyways.

It all comes down to body-type.

" moving up " used to be more from necessity than choice.

Martinez is a large JMW who is already punching above his weight.

There is no place for him at 168.

Marquez is a blown-up FW, who is already punching above his weight.

There is no place for him at 147.

                      Exactly.
