but really I don't give credit to Floyd for beating JMM at a weight he never fought in before also I won't give credit to Manny for beating a washed up fighter for a vacant belt at a catchweight

Ok but even if someone believes what you said, who is going to look at it that way? Floyd vs Marquez at 147 was NOT a good thing for Floyd, it was the complete opposite..... to me it left a bad mark!

Even Floyd said after all the criticism, "Oh, it was only a tune-up fight"

hahahaha....a fkin lightweight (just about) who moved up 2!!!! DIVISIONS, to take on the "best fighter of this era" are u ***in kidding me?

      How embarrassing is that

So basically....He beat an easy boxer.....to get the belts etc...and hes the best because of this....

Boxing is about WHO you fight, not what you win.......Look how many fights were done just because of the boxers wanting to prove something, that didnt involve a belt.....and alot of those fights meant 10 times more than alot of fights that had belts on the line....
      Really??

....then why is unranked at 154 Pac fighting unranked at 154 Margarito for a "vacant" 154 lb title in yet another "vacant" WBC title fight involving A. a Mexican or B. Pacquiao AT A CATCHWEIGHT OF 150 for which Pac was barely weighed in as a regular WW (146)???? Get your facts man... I've got mine!!!

Easy boxer??? I just told you what EVERYONE else was doing in 2006!!!!! WHO did you want Floyd to fight in 2006!!!!!!! It was only Judah, Baldomir, DLH!!! Everyone else was ABSENT!!!!

He LET Shane keep his belt!!!! You guys MAKE him to be a belt getter!!! Then why did he let Shane keep it?!?!?!? Cuz he knew when he beat Shane he would be regarded as the best WW in the world!!!!!!!!

look it up on ESPN or boxrec or Ring!!!! They all have Floyd as the number 1 at WW because he owned Shane even as some have Pac as p4p...

hmmm how come Pac is p4p but Floyd is the best WW????? interesting

surprisingly lots of pac fans and the guy I quoted do. acting as if Manny KO'd the same Cotto who beat Mosley and a prime Hatton or came back and beat a prime Morales 2 times

the point I was making is Manny having those great names on his resume don't mean shit if the were a shell of the the boxers they used to be and/or at a catchweights

...or because he had just moved up to challenge arguably the best MW of all-time in B-Hop for the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles!!!!??? in other words... ALL OF THEM before he WAS champ and fought Floyd!!!!!

...on top of which he took the WBC title away from Mayorga in his previous fight to Floyd!!!

          Don't answer that

While it wasn't directed at me:

I presume you are trying to say that Oscar wasn't past prime ..... but did you realize that before Mayorga, Oscar had lost 2 of 3 fights and the one he won was controversial because many thought he didn't win?

Also, look at how often Oscar fought? He was more of a promoter by then than a boxer.

More importantly, Oscar's trainer for the Floyd fight said, I realized then that Oscar couldn't pull the trigger no more ..... that doesn't sound like a guy that is prime or just a bit past prime.... at least not to me!

              Bad comparison.

Marquez did NOT belong at 147.

Hatton was a top 140 fighter and had yet to lose at that weight when Manny fought him.

Cotto's previous fight was fought at 146 while against Manny 145. Not a big difference PLUS there were no comments stating he had problems making the weight. Cotto, who you said was a shell of himself now has a title at 154. Not bad, hey?

Morales I and II were great fights. You can't take anything away from them as Morales was even winning and had control of the 2nd fight by about the 5-6th round .... At that point, HBO commentators were saying Manny may be too small for 130 ......Manny had a couple of huge rounds that turned that fight around.

Then He Fought Hatton who was undefeated at that time. Many say Hatton was a 140 lbs fighter. But they either forgot or dont know Hatton had a belt at 147 after beating collazo at 147. So hatton was undefeated at 147 as well. He also fought Mosley when Mosley was coming off 2 back to make KOs and Floyd was coming off a 2 year lay off & a tune up with Marquez. Floyd dominated both those fighters. Floyd's JMW resume is also better then Pacquiaos. Pac fought Margarito a WW fighter at 150 for the 154lbs vacant belt. Margarito hadnt won any fights at 154 and had been off a whole year. Not only that he was fighting without his wraps. Floyd fought Oscar at 154 affter oscar ko mayorga and fernado vargus..
Anyone else find this funny? haha. Baldomir at the time was just a tuneup for judah, and it was a huge upset that he lost. Now 5 years later we find out that Baldomir was a hard hitting beast and every WW in teh world was ducking him. I remember that fight clearly and was in Vegas at the time. The odds against baldomir was 1 to 100000 or similar. "hard hitting baldomir", haha.

If floyd fans are going to bring up twisted points such as these to hype up floyds WW resume over Manny's, then you know it's worth continuing on in the thread.

This little fanboy shouldnt be allowed to post about his hero anymore.

OK at 140.. after blowing out Gatti; Floyd asked for Cotto... Bob said, "Cotto is still too green"

Margarito was WBO but had his hands full with Clottey who was equally unimpressive at the time...

WBC champs in 2006 = Judah and Baldomir
WBA champs in 2006 = Judah, Collazo, Hatton
IBF champs in 2006 = Judah

Let me know where I missed.... How was Floyd going to fight Pacman, Cotto, Margs, Clottey in 2006 where he was "ducking" them?...

Better yet... Why was Pacman fighting for a title that used to belong to Sergio Martinez right after he left it behind... THATS ducking!!! Conveniently, the real BEST at 154 were facing each other soon after when Sergio KO'd P-Willy... So Pacman vacates and Sulaiman leaves it vacant for another MEXICAN (JCCJr).. Keep it in the fam huh Don Sulaiman??.. LOL at the politics

                    1. You mean trying for lineal MW supremacy against all-time best MW B-Hop
...or against WW HOFer Shane Mosley who won by all 3 score cards 115-113 ???

2.This was conveniently said AFTER Floyd had beaten Oscar

                    Lol... nice try.

Same can be said about Salido.... Point is these guys beat THE MAN at the time!!!!!!

Baldomir didn't just win... he ate his shots and "outboxed" the boxer and won by UD-12 in his own backyard!!!!

What do you say about that??? Say what you want but this guy beat Gatti, Judah, and CLOTTEY!!!! ALL of who have been former WW/ JWW champs!!!

Listen, I'm not saying Baldomir is the 10th wonder of the world... But he tasted championship status because he dared to be great... even though he was not... Get a dictionary... its called overachieving!!! Its why we watch the fights
