the first fight wasn't a fluke just because Ortiz has had success at 147

when he and Maidana fought they were both legit 140lb fighters

he and Ortiz went to war and when all was said and done the annoited champion that Ortiz was supposed to be going into this fight was punished to the point where he quit in front of a bunch of his own fans.

as much as I think Ortiz' win last weekend was great, what I just described above was utter ownage.

nothing flukey about that. Also had Maidana went down to also ran status like say Bredis Prescott is then we could make a case in saying the win was a fluke

win or lose Maidana brings it
Come on, Ortiz had that fight in the bag. Maidana was getting abused.

Vic was a green kid, who did not know where the well was.

Boxing is a learning curve, Vic learnt something in that fight, and it made a man out of him. You have been around enough fighters, you should be able to see that he has turned the corner.

Vic certainly knows his way down to the well now, as he showed against Berto.

The dark scary place that a fighter like Maidana can take you..... aint that dark and scary for Vic no more.

There is absolutely no question about that.

You do not " fluke " a gutsy performance like that, especially when your redeeming features were your largest criticism.

Vic has turned the corner, and is much better at 147.
I'm not saying the win is worthless. But it still doesn't change the fact that Berto isn't a good fighter. He's not a good pressure fighter, not a good inside fighter, and not a good outside fighter. I'm just saying that Ortiz is still beatable.

Maidana had Ortiz hurt bad, there is no doubt about this. He would've lost which is why quitting actually made sense. But quitting leaves a bad taste in the fans mouth.

Berto was a great win, I think Ortiz did redeem himself.

The fight was in the bag and he still lost... hmmm

Ortiz had a good win over Berto but let's not get carried away here.

You will only know the answers when Ortiz faces Maidana again - and only then you will see if Ortiz can pass the test he failed once before.

              Rubbish.

If Vic KTFO Maidana in the first round, he will have answered nothing.

Berto took him to the same scary place that Maidana did.

I don't think that Vic finds that place too dark and scary anymore.

He learnt a lot about boxing, and a lot about himself, in the Maidana fight.

He has turned the corner now, and has a new lease on life at 147.

He should not be lookin back at those guys, unless they come up to 147.

Wow, talk about fame going to one's head. This Victor Ortiz has ONE good win, against a hype job who was being protected by his promoter and HBO, and was one punch away from getting stopped by Berto, and now he's talking as if he is Floyd Mayweather. Maidana would take this chump's soul again. No doubt about it, this guy wants nothing to do with El Chino

I see that Maidana retweeted this pic:

I like Ortiz but that is a funny pic
