  • He should just re-match Maidana. However, his physical strength, and new found confidence will not be enough to stop Maidana from coming forward. We shall see how Victor reacts in such situation again. He has the skills to hinder Maidana's assaults, and possibly hurt him to, as he is powerful himself.

Outboxing Maidana seems to be the game plan. A good game plan to as Maidana seems static, technically flawed in many areas, and wild in his approach. Yet, his mental fortitude, power, and determination make you fight. Ortiz will have to go to war with Maidana again. Will he quit against a man who is equivalently possessed, as he was against Berto if not more? Maidana is underrated, and beating him will not be as easy as Ortiz makes it seem.

I think he honestly feels that way. He's not worried about redemption for a loss. He feels like he is already redeemed. He also feels like Maidana is not on his level to deserve a shot at him. (Although I wouldn't agree with that... He took a knee before another man... He quit. I'd definitely want to return the favor) I honestly think he wasn't ready for that fight when it happened. He's obviously an emotional person, that night it seemed like he had a lot on his mind... He just wanted to fight and then deal with the rest of life... but he wasn't ready, at that moment, for someone to fight back. His heart was just in a fragile place at the moment. Still, he genuinely believes he's in the same league with Pacquiao and Mayweather. Of course, no one else believes that. But that's ok, call him ****y. He works hard for his own right to believe that and he's eager to prove it
This is the best post in this thread. I agree with most of the things you said.

But he needs to bring it down a little.

He can't claim he is on the level of Mayweather and Pacquiao, when we saw him fight to a draw with Peterson, get knocked out by Maidana, played it Cautious instead of Vicious with an old past his best Nate Campbell, and got knocked down twice and almost knocked out, by some one he just said is not on his level[Berto].

So I don't know what he means by those guys are not on his level, I imagine some one who really is on his self-perceived level? What can those fighters who are on his level do to him, if these "lesser" fighters like Maidana beat the crap out of him, and Peterson came back to outbox him to a draw, and Berto shared the same amount of knockdowns with him? His confidence is great, it went through the roof, sometimes being ****y will get you more attention in this sport, but he's not really making any sense.

I thought Ortiz meant that he feels much stronger at 147.

He looks to have turned the corner in that fight.

Prime is sometimes just as much a mental thing as it is physical.

Vic is on top of his game right now, he should not be looking back at those guys.

He is now the third best welter on the planet.

He is the most qualified to fight either Pacquiao or Mayweather.

i agree. although i would like to see him take it slowly to get to those guys

ortiz needs to continue to stay busy fighting and developing his skills and

            abilities..

he also needs to fight madaina at 147 for his own personal redemption...

i think he destroys madaina at 147, berto is fast as fuuuuk and hits a lot

harder than madaina does, ortiz sustained bertos power and beat him badly.

if berto did hold for 11 round ortiz would have got him out of there in

            brutal fashion

forget about floyd, he is done fighting...

and anything with pac within two years is too soon..

ortiz is very very young at this point and needs to continue to grow

            • Did Berto give Ortiz from some of that Hatian-Raisan. Ortiz must have been
hittin' that joint to hard!!!! This is Golden-Boy Co. normal crazy talk. They don't deal with reality there. One fight against a guy who struggled with Collazo and biggest win was against Quintana, erase Ortiz's last two years and puts him on the pound for pound list? Did Victor ever think that maybe Berto can say the same thing about his victory (he had an off-night).... But there is a huge difference on Berto's off night he didn't QUIT!!! If anybody watched the fight and took their emotions out of it Ortiz has major flaws and Berto was out of shape. Ortiz has MAJOR holes in his defense and technique and if you don't have a jab or great reflexes or foot-work you won't beat the top fighters. Ortiz was begging to be knocked out and Berto was breathing with his mouth open in the 4th round. I don't think Ortiz can beat Maidana in a rematch and I don't think he can beat Kahn. Ortiz should wait until he puts together a streak of 3 or 4 great performaces before he starts sucking his own thing... One fight doesn't make you a king just like Buster Douglas, Hasim Rahman, Ricardo Mayargo, Jermain Taylor and etc. etc. who made their names of one opponent. The only difference is none of those guys QUIT in 6 rounds of a fight!!!! Ortiz needs to do ALOT more before he starts talkin S**t...

I actually agree with you. As much as I like Ortiz, he is very hittable.

would you guys rather him look for a way out of a rematch or be calling madaina out like a *****?
Maybe you should read again what Ortiz says. He says he does NOT want a rematch with Maidana. Wonder why?
