Maidana would take this chump's soul again. No doubt about it, this guy wants nothing to do with El Chino
I think that most folks are HUGELY under-estimating just how beneficial the move to 147 was for Ortiz, I believe that he is a much better fighter at welter.

I believe that Vic is now much stronger, will have much better conditioning, and will have better punch resistance, than he ever had at 140.

He has been draining himself to make 140 for years, even Freddie Roach - who has trained him - stated that Ortiz would beat Berto because he is a natural welter and nobody has seen the best of him yet.

The green Ortiz that fought in Maidana's back yard of 140, is a waaay different beast than the much more mature kid that beat Berto in his backyard of 147.

Maidana was getting abused early in that fight, he gets murked now at 147.

I will make even more off that fight than I will off the Prescott/Khan rematch

Vic was a green kid, who did not know where the well was.

Boxing is a learning curve, Vic learnt something in that fight, and it made a man out of him. You have been around enough fighters, you should be able to see that he has turned the corner.

Vic certainly knows his way down to the well now, as he showed against Berto.

The dark scary place that a fighter like Maidana can take you..... aint that dark and scary for Vic no more.
Maidana took Ortiz's best shots and didn't go out. He recovered and proceeded to beat Vitor's ass into submission. To claim as Ortiz said that "he had a night off" or that e had a broken wrist, or that he never quit just shows you that this kid lives in fantasyland. Maidana exposed the weakness in Ortiz's mind, a weak heart is not something a good trainer or a good camp can fix

Maidana was getting battered around the ring and got knocked down 3 times.

It looked like he was going to be badly outclassed at one point in that fight.

He was possibly even close to being stopped himself.

Neither the ref, nor his corner, would have let that go on for too much longer.

Maidana was lucky to pull that fight around, he will not get that lucky again.

Ortiz is clearly a much better fighter at 147, and much stronger.

        Maidana get's murked at welter.

Boxing is a learning curve, Vic learnt a lot about boxing and he learnt a lot about himself in that fight.

He has turned the corner now, and is a much better fighter at 147.

If that fight gets made..... Maidana gets dumped back down to 140 in a bag.

A good trainer can definitely help breakdown ANY aspect of a fighter's game.

But most of the problems that Vic had to address he handled himself.

Maybe you should check out a couple of interviews before the Berto fight ?

I think that like most people, you don't understand exactly what happened to Vic in that fight. He became a man that night.

        I guarantee you this......

What happened in the Maidana fight will NEVER happen again, Maidana would have to run Vic over in a car to stop him now, and he is going to get brutalised while trying at 147.

Vic is clearly a much better fighter at 147.

I would damn near bet my house that you are wrong, and that Maidana gets beaten up and probably stopped.

          • Vic would beat the crude and lets be honest overrated Maidana in a rematch but he should fight him and reading things about him not wanting to fight him is disheartening.

OK, I can see your point now.... fighters never change, develop, or mature.

Manny used to get knocked out by everyone, and now Top Rank try to make out like he's some kind of decent fighter..... but that over-rated hypejob just feeds on old men and faded champions.

You could be right there man, once a bum always a bum, huh ?

I agree, Maidana should be his next opponent, IF Vic's calendar happens to be clear, and IF chino is prepared to go up to 147.

Obviously, Vic should be screaming for the two guys who are in front of him.

                    • Lead Uppercut - no matter what you say, the facts are that Ortiz was ahead on the cards and still quit. He knew himself that he could not take anymore punishment.

Ortiz needs to fight Maidana to get that loss off his back, all of your excuses are not going to help him.
