If JuanMa is able to beat Salido in a rematch...

I guess. But what is there to lose? Arum doesn't care to protect Gamboa, especially now, and "Golden Boy" would probably welcome a match-up with a fighter as exciting as Yuri. How many big paydays does John have ahead of him? Might as well match Chris up with a very interesting, albeit dangerous, opponent. If Gamboa wins, there's a potential rematch back in the States.Comment

Gamboa knocks Juanma out if they ever fight. He is much faster, bigger, stronger and has great boxing skills. Juanma looked like he had decent boxing skills in early part of his career
but lately all he wanna do is trade punches with tough guy like Mtagwa, Salido and his chin is shaky plus he is not all that fast. I think if he boxes smart he can win a rematch with Salido. There is a huge difference between Gamboa and Juanma's speed and technique. As for Gamboa he should fight John or move up and fight guys like Rocky Martinez or one of the top guys.Comment

At this point Lopez needs to reassert himself in the division. Of course everyone wants to see Lopez-Gamboa but after the loss he doesn't deserve it.Comment

I think in someway Juanma's past success in some strange way does not allow him to improve/expand his game. My guess is that it got into his head that his style is invincible. So no adjustment is required. Now he has to take a step back now (a risky career move) and make some adjustment. He needs a good trainer that will get into his head and provide sound strategy. Steward might not be a bad idea.Comment

It's like they say, "You don't fix what ain't broke." JuanMa and his team probably didn't see the Mtagwa fight as a sign of things to come. Who can blame them? Now that Lopez has taken his first loss, on a TKO no less, it's clear that something has to give. I think JuanMa has what it takes to adjust and get his career back on track. Salido should've been taken more seriously; his performance against Gamboa showed a tough, competent adversary.I think in someway Juanma's past success in some strange way does not allow him to improve/expand his game. Not much biz-wise. But the feud is beyond biz. It's personal. If John wanted a huge payday, he would show up A LOT more in Vegas for main events. It's tragic that Gamboa doesn't sell enuff. That might change in time if properly promoted.I guess. But what is there to lose? Gamboa is so exciting to watch, it's only a matter of time before he starts to make serious money. And if he stays undefeated? Fuhgetaboutit....Comment

That's what I'm talkin' about. If JML gets his **** together and wins the rematch (u know it'll be another slugfest) ,why not a trilogy?!!
By the time they get to the 3rd, it'll be as big as any JML/Gamboa fight will probably ever be considering their respective audiences.
For the record, that was one of the worst stoppages I've seen. Can't take the champ's belt when he's still throwin' punches.Comment

He has been hurt pretty bad already.Wow...everyone has really lost confidence in JuanMa. It's like his career is over. I think this line of thinking is a little premature. Lopez is young and able. Despite the bad look against Mtagwa, and the loss to Salido, JuanMa's still alive. Unless Lopez loses a rematch to Orlando, or suffers another loss to a lesser fighter, JuanMa's career lives. Lopez needs to reinvent himself a little; he still has the tools that carried him this far. Why give up on him so soon? The last I checked, many great fighters have losses on their records. Losses are a fact of life, especially when you face strong opposition. Let's wait and see....
His personality has also turned a lot of us OFF especially pre-Salido fight--he needs to humble himself down quite a bit
and the he needs to drastically improve his speed, stamina, and defense and if possible adquire a new chin, or else he will not last long in the game IMHOComment
