If poor Lopez can get his WBO belt back from Salido, then the winner of Gamboa-John can fight Lopez and unify the the winner fights Gonzalez. But Iwould understand if Gamboa skips all of this and goes up in weight.
I'd love to see Gamboa versus John myself. However, given the choice, I'd rather see Gamboa versus Lopez. Your idea sounds even better, though: the winner of Gamboa-John (hopefully Yuri) takes on the winner of Lopez-Salido (hopefully JuanMa). That scenario sounds really good.

Its an solid but risky plan, is John even interested in fighting Gamboa and would he do it without the home field advantage?

I doubt it. Part of John's advantage against other opponents is his speed. Gamboa GOT speed which partially neutralize some of John's advantage.

Not to mention John has slowed down even if at his best he was never as fast as Gamboa is now.

It probably well. Juanma seems to want the rematch.
Unless Juanma had a really really bad night, I think he is fooling himself that he can make the adjustment. Does he look for wide/angle punches? He can't deal with wide punches and right uppercut. Can you imagine someone like Donaire with the left hook and decent right hand can do to Juanma?

I am not saying Juanma needs to retire or his game is over. He needs at least one fight to make major adjustments to his game and this could mean a new trainer/regimen. A quick rematch is just a bad idea.

I think John would fight Gamboa, as long as the fight is in Indonesia. I also think that Yuri would fight Chris on his home turf. (Gamboa seems willing to fight anyone, anywhere.) In the absence of a Lopez-Gamboa match-up, this is a close second choice for me.

                I tend to agree.

The only barrier is Top Rank and GBP. Sigh.....

Yeah. And John has no power. I think John is content to finish his career in Indonesia. He don't care. I mean Indonesia has some 70% of the population of USA which is like 2 times Mexico's population. I know they ain't as rich as North America but you make some decent $$ performing in front that size of population.
