I think Lopez can beat him if he doesnt brawl him
If JuanMa is able to beat Salido in a rematch...

He seems like a nice kid. He's real ****y in the ring sometimes, and it throws me off, to tell you the truth. But, in his interviews, he comes across as a chill guy. After the Solis fight, when JuanMa got into the ring, you got the sense that these dudes are just a couple of talented young men trying to make a career for themselves...nothing personal.Comment

To be honest, I wonder how much JuanMa's last few fights might've affected his punch resistance. Mtagwa's not a big puncher, but he managed to land some good shots towards the end of the fight with Lopez. JuanMa was in a furious scrap with Rafa Marquez, and really fought an unnecessarily brutal bout. Then came the Salido TKO. Someone posted a slo-mo GIF showing the one-two combo Orlando landed in the fifth round knockdown. Man, it was nasty. JuanMa's head looked like it was on a swivel. Head shots like that are like being in a car accident. How many of those do you think a human being can take before they start to take effect?Comment

Juanman is an excellent boxer, and on his best night he could get the win over Solida, but it will be far from easy.Comment

I've always been on the fence with Juanma regarding a Gamboa showdown. Gamboa always looks impressive and utterly dominant in his fights while Juanma shows vulnerability too often (Salido, Marquez MOVING UP, Mtagwa).
Have we even seen Gamboa in trouble? Gamboa is just too fast and his speed will clip López and stun him horribly. Correction: Knock him out or send him down for the count. If people are still counting (or even looking forward to) the López-Gamboa fight, you guys are crazy. Whatever luster it had or competitiveness was just obliterated with that Salido loss. It magnified López's defensive flaws. Salido punches and you get dizzy, what happens when Gamboa touches you?
Good night.
López can bounce back, but Gamboa is now separated from the pack. He's on cruise control at 126.Last edited by TintaBoricua; 04-22-2011, 01:01 AM.Comment

Well, Yuri's gotta fight somebody. Who do you wanna see him fight at 126?I've always been on the fence with Juanma regarding a Gamboa showdown. Gamboa always looks impressive and utterly dominant in his fights while Juanma shows vulnerability too often (Salido, Marquez MOVING UP, Mtagwa).

Indeed. That's what I felt from that interview as well.He seems like a nice kid. He's real ****y in the ring sometimes, and it throws me off, to tell you the truth. I would not call Juanma an excellent boxer. He's a brawler with excellent power and good (maybe too much) punch resistance. An excellent boxer would have good D, good peripheral vision as well as ability to clinch in trouble.
I heard he had problem making the weight so this weight may not be good for him at this point. Too early for a rematch though.Comment

It definitely should happen. I know he didn't learn a damn thing but I wish he Arum learned this why you don't hold off on a mega fight for 2-3 ****in years. It was bound to happen.
I'll say the same thing I said when the junior welterweights were all acting like 12 year old pmsing drama queen girls before they actually started fighting each other.

I've got no problem with that. Gamboa and Lopez are still the ones everyone wants to see matched up at 126. Would anyone really rather see another featherweight fight more? I don't. My feelings on this are the same as before the JuanMa loss: Make it happen as soon as possible.
I have been dying to see Gamboa or Lopez vs Chris John. And now even more, but Gamboa vs John, Lopez has his hands full with Salido. Gamboa vs John is the only undefeated vs undefeated meaningful fight in Featherweight. John's WBA super world FW title will be on the line, and Gamboa's IBF? I think he won it didn't he? If poor Lopez can get his WBO belt back from Salido, then the winner of Gamboa-John can fight Lopez and unify the the winner fights Gonzalez. But Iwould understand if Gamboa skips all of this and goes up in weight.
I didn't see anything in the first fight that showed me Lopez will beat Salido in a rematch. I saw Lopez get dominated and take too much right hands. Unless he plans on boxing this time, which I doubt it, I don't think Lopez will beat Salido. IMO a win for Lopez will be at least going the distance this time.Comment
