People really think Prime Roy could beat Haye of today?

Jones beat Ruiz when Ruiz was an established champion, and was recognised by all as a most difficult guy to beat, with his aggravating style. It was only when the boxing authorities got rid of his long time trainer, that Ruiz began to fight in a more open style, leaving himself liable to be hit, and it began his downslide, right to being well used up and little better than a palooka.
That of course was when it was decided that he was now a good opponent for Haye........Comment

Jones didn't just "exploit" guys, he exposed and humiliated them. Who could you ever compare to him, even out of his prime, but especially IN his prime, which lasted for most of his real careerComment

Well, it's only your opinion, and it's only my opinion, but my opinion has a hell of a lot to back it up, whilst yours doesn't. I cannot even visualise a scenario where a ham-and-egger like Haye would beat a phenomenon like Jones.
Unless he just throws a lucky punch with his eyes closed.....like Tarver.Comment

I admire your post since you see things that the whole boxing world for about 20 years (right from even his amateur days) never saw.
Congratulations.Comment

In his prime? Sure he might have. He had the speed and skills to do it. Hell, some people thing he could beat Haye now. Dwyer included. Me? I think I would have favored a prime Roy, but Roy of today wouldnt last a round.Comment

he got caught with a good shot but most of it was a slip. the ring had been wet from jones' trunks the whole fight. irrc, he almost slipped again in another round when no punch landed.
this thread is pointless.
