Tyson is lucky he hit the scene when he did because those other guys were a ****-load better than Buster Douglass.

Anybody over 200lbs could have become heavyweight Champion the year Tyson became Champ.

Trevor Burbick was so washed-up he almost fell when they took his robe off..lol

When Mayweather came to be better known, just before he won the 130 title from the former semi retired featherweight champ, who retired immediately after, it was often mentioned in print, that Mayweather ALWAYS had an "edge" in his fights. They used to refer to his "Brains Trust" how smart they were in their choice of opponents for Mayweather, which gave him a definite edge, but also made him look good.

It was only later that guys like Merchant would talk about another Mayweather fiasco, "stinking out the half empty arena" guys walking out whilst he was actually fighting in the ring, etc.etc.

I have a video where Merchant mentioned the "quarter filled arena, stinking out the arena and guys walking out" all in the same broadcast, and that it was another typical Mayweather fight.

I can't help what these guys say, but they said it. Those who have only recently latched on to the Mayweather PR stunts, don't know about these things.

For example Mayweatrher, to this very day, says that Emmanuel Augustus was his toughest fight. But at the time, Mayweather was 20 or 22-0 and Augustus was around 21-18, on paper, a cinch, and not a fit fight for an up and comer with such talent as Mayweather.

It was the same with Castillo, I think he'd had about 6-7 losses at that time, and had been Julio Caesar Chavez" chief sparring partner for most of his career, more than he was an actual fighter, and was thought to be "worn out". That was nearly another disaster where the Brains Trust miscalculated.

As it turned out, he luckily stopped Augustus in, I think, the 9th (a body shot?) and maybe that his promoter at the time of the Castillo fight was Top Rank (I think) may have just won him that fight which so many thought he lost.

I was one of them, although I believe he won the return, (wider than the official cards).
Sorry guys. Hernandez was not a feather champ but a super feather champ who intended to retire. I was thinking of another guy.

Come on, Mayweather easily. His resume isn't great but come on.

hernandez intended to retire??? not likely...he was still the #1 fighter in the division when mayweather beat him. he beat a number of top ranked sfws after his loss at 135 to oscar. and he planned on fighting after the mayweather fight, which was curtailed due to his cancer diagnosis.

Don't know about Cooney-Spinks, but the Cooney-Holmes fight always sticks in my memory. Holmes went through hell in that fight before he finally wore Cooney down and stopped him,. In the 13th or 14th I think. I remember feeling sorry for Holmes all through the first half of that fight. the punishment he took was astounding, and he kept coming back for more.

              Tyson wasn't a complete anything.

He just looked like a complete fighter feasting on weak comp like Marvis Frazier and the DREADED Henry Tillman.

Tyson fought in one of the weakest heavyweight divisions EVER....just look who he won his Title from...LOL

              Trevor Burbick's wobbling ass.

              Hell I coulda' did that.

Compare Burbick to Genaro Hernandez..the guy Floyd won his title from.

Tyson got WHOOPED by a journeyman...Douglass.

Floyd would never lose to a journeyman.
              Berbick beat Muhammad Ali.

Tyson was past prime Vs Douglous. Marvis was the son of ATG Joe Frazier and was a top contender.

Tysons era wasnt that bad. Its the best after Alis and the 90s era. Mayweather has yet to beat anyone as good as Frank bruno. Until he does that Tyson will always be the greater fighter.

Dempsey would get killed by Tyson. Marvis Frazier beats anyone from Demseys era.
