what's worse is the first HALL OF FAME opponent floyd faced, oscar, it took floyd to be 32 years of age to do it not to mention vs a 35 year old oscar. If you compare all the other great hall of famers in history, they faced hall of fame opposition MUCH YOUNGER than floyd did. For example, pac faced his first hall of fame opponent when he was green & in his mid 20s.

You can do this with almost every great fighter. Floyd took a really long time to face his first hall of fame opponent & it was against oscar.



Floyd has never ever faced a great hall of fame opponent in their prime.

oscar, shane, & marquez ARE NOT ALL TIME GREATS. Hall of Famers yes, but not all time greats.

Holmes, even though about 36 I think when he fought Tyson, was still pretty goods and had some good wins afterwards in a very prolongued career. Foreman always refused to fight him.

It was the WAY in which the early Tyson always beat his opponents, no matter how good, he demolished them, like a construction ball battering down a building. They never had any chance of winning from the very beginning of the fightr when Tyson would come out, bobbing and weaving and PUNCHING, mostly potential KO punches. teh first check was against Bonecrusher Smith, who could easily have been DQ for constant holding. But all credit to him, he lasted out the 12 rds against a monster.

Buster Matchis was actually quite good, and marvis had a very good record. Of course not both exactly the same thing.

i mean im a big tyson fan, hes very responsible for my love of boxing, but holmes and spinks were past it when he fought them. to say otherwise is an insult to both of these guys careers.

Spinks moved up to hevayweight and beat Holmesx2 and KOed Cooney. Spinks would beat both the Klits, Prime Holyfield and Lewis.

Tyson was the complete fighter. JMM was a blown up featherweight who didnt do anything at welterweight. Hatton is a JWW. De La Hoya was prime at welterweight.

Holyfield woulda knocked that boy head off his shoulders. Lewis punishes him too. Vitali throws him around. The version Tyson fought for sure.

Berbick was ok. Very brave but thats it. Tucker was the best of that bunch and could have beat Tyson witha better gameplan. Dont mention Bruno's scary ass.

hernandez intended to retire??? not likely...he was still the #1 fighter in the division when mayweather beat him. he beat a number of top ranked sfws after his loss at 135 to oscar. and he planned on fighting after the mayweather fight, which was curtailed due to his cancer diagnosis.

That's likely why he intended to retire. I only heard about the cancer years afterwards, but of course HE must have known about it for a long time. It was announced that he intended to retire and that was his last fight. So he DID retire. Sounds logical. I haven't even thought about him since.

Tyson will always have a place in my heart .. with the bobbing and weaving . devastating skilll , speed and power for a hw. No one should disrespect his achievements , there will never be another him.

Now saying that I hate Floyd but I had to keep it real and vote for him.... cos when you look who tyson had success with apart from maybe 3 names you think who the hell are these other guys in the history of boxing.... Where as Floyd has at least 5 or 6 big names , fought in multiple weight classes and is undefeated.

They've both fought over the hill fighters but it pains me to say it but floyds resume is better he just wasn't half as interesting or entertaining!
