Pacquaio never earned the number one spot by beating Mayweather or Mayweather losing to someone else.

Pacquaio got the spot only because Mayweather retired for a short while, and he got it by default. No one disputes Mayweather is the most skilled fighter in the sport either

If you wanna get technical about it, Manny couldve lost to the same Marquez that Mayweather thoroughly dominated, two pounds was not gonna change the outcome of that fight let it go.

Mayweather clearly beat Cotto who most people acknowledge won no more than 4 rounds at best and most people think Pacquiao lost his last fight with Marquez clearly so therefore Manny is not the number one fighter pound for pound

He was bumped down because he hasnt looked impressive in a long time, he never truely earned the spot by beating Mayweather or Mayweather losing in the ring..."Mayweather has been in the p4p rankings since 1998 and you believe floyd isnt number one for obvious reasons?"

Mayweather was champion uninterrupted for 5 years before anyone even heard of Manny Pacquaio

Cotto won 4 rounds at best, everytime I scored the fight Mayweather won 9-3

Neither of them should have the number 1 spot unless they either fight each other, or one of them makes the leap to fight Martinez.

So Pac would have to beat Bradley convincingly and then move on to Martinez. Similarly, Floyd will have to fight Martinez.

It may sound harsh but that's their fault for dragging the sport into the ground and not fighting each other.
