But i do see what he means,he was easily applying his game plan,he landed clean sharp combinations, and vitali was looking pretty old and tame, till he made solis overstretch and duck away for him to still land a slight shot on solis as he went and buckled from the weight on his weak leg.
What are you talking about? Klitschko pursued him around the ring keeping him moving with his left hand. Solis tried a very few ineffectual counter combinations, or L-R shots most of which didn't land. Klitschko hit him with his right and Solis went down and injured his knee.

Since Solis was hit when he'd bobbed down nearly waist high, to avoid what was coming it should show EVERYONE how sharp Klitschko was and how accurate to be able to follow Solis and hit him in the right spot.

I thought it was shaping up to be a good fight tell the Knee gave out. If he recovers In a reasonable time I think a rematch would be something worth watching..Not like there is alot of better contenders just waiting for the chance..The talent pool is pretty thin in heavyweights right know..

Its a shamed it ended like that, it could have been a good competitive bout, something we havent seen in years with the Klitschkos and then something like this happens!! Im still angry about it and cant stand the hate towards Solis, this can happen to any fighter but hey thats boxing, we have to deal with it and hope Solis recovers well and comes back strong.
Excuse me....EXCUSE ME....... a phantom punch is a punch which DOES NOT LAND but still knocks down the fighter. Phantom punches are how they describe fighters who "take a dive".

\Like for example, in the 2nd Ali-Liston fight, it was a "phantom punch" until slow motion showed that there actually WAS a punch, but not much of a punch, still it was a REAL punch.

So THAT phantom punch label was dropped.

A famous phantom puhch was the "invisible" foul punch which dropped Schmeling in the Sharkey-Schmeling title fight which won chmeling the title.

I agree with you.....but.....you don't know what a "phantom punch" is- or didn't until i told you. You should thank me.

And, by the way, I didn't use Schmeling as an example on purpose, It just suddenly came to me first, I only saw AFTERWARDS that you are from Germany. I intended no insult.

If he weighed 246 against Austin, he would have propably weighed araound 235 against Vitali but its not good to lose to much weight in a short time. The amount of weight Solis lost was absolutely right, he just should have started earlier to lose weight and never gone over 250. But still, this kind of injury can happen to any athlete, it often happens to professional soccer players also. I doubt it had much to do with Solis weight. I think he will come back lighter, even after the long layoff he will have! Solis and his trainer are a good team, they will come back and Solis time will come! Mark my words! This guys has all the tools you need and when he comes back in better shape the sky is the limit for this guy.
I don't agree with the latter part of your post, but I completely agree with your first half. He trained hard, and considering his previous weights he was at the right weight.

It's purely by accident that I seem to comment more on your posts than on others. Most others are not worth even reading.

I think Juan Carlos Gomez was far better. However, he ruined his chances by his foolish and ****** behaviour out of the ring. Frittered away a stellar cruiserweight record, when he went into the heavy division. Suddenly seemed to lose all his wits.

Solis didn't land anything to give Vitali any trouble. Vitali has never been hard to hit, just hard to hurt. Even Sosnowski was able to land punches against Vitali, but as time went on the clubbing punches from Vitali took their toll.

Solis got a gift shot at the title due only to ridiculous WBC rankings that made him and Austin the top 2 contenders. He isn't going to get another title fight gift-wrapped for him like that one, so he'd better shape up and beat some real contender. I'd like to see him take on Boytsov.

Vitali has maybe two more fights left. He's not going to waste one on Solis.
Klitschko isn't even remotely mentioning retirement. He says as long as he feels good he'll be fighting....and he feels wonderful. That's what I get from the SINGLE peripheral statement he made about how long he'd be fighting.

A good example, although from a lomng time ago was when Klitschko fought Herbie Hide for the WBO title. At the time Champion Hide was a top fighter 31-1. He did something that practically nobody ever since has done. He actually won the first rd against Klitschko on either 2 or maybe all 3 of the judges' cards.

Klitschko knocked him clean out in the second. What makes you think that anyone else could manage differently especially a 20 fight "veteran" like Solis who really hasn't fought anyone of any importance??
