Sturm sells out arenas in Germany and gets paid a lot.

Martinez would have to fight him in Germany and I doubt Sturm would come here as he's still bitter about the DLH fight.

I don't blame Sturm for being bitter - I'm still bitter about that fight lol. But I wonder if Sturm would bring in as much as a Cotto, Pac or Floyd. Definitely not. But if Martinez can't secure those bouts (and he won't), he should definitely weigh that option. Of course, HBO probably gets the final say.

Sturm would bring in more than Cotto, but not Pac or Floyd.

I suggested Sturm cuz Maravilla won't get Pac or Floyd.

to get a fighter of martinez's level you NEED TO BEAT SOME BETTER THAN DANIEL JACOBS...pirog may end up being a good one but he should be ashamed of himself thinking he should be in line for a fight of that stature.martinez is aiming high but may take a tuneup(manfredo jr)to keep busy while he waits for the big money fight.he has earned that right.pirog needs to add real names to his resume.

Yeah, you're right. What a ****ing shame. Ahh well. 160 doesn't really have stars so what can you do? He will probably have no choice but to fight Sturm and, as you pointed out, that's not a bad thing.

I heard quite a bit about Pirog prior to the Jacobs bout but, even then, beating Jacobs doesn't mean much. Just don't understand the notion that Martinez is ducking him. Laughable, really.

Remember that fight and they were panning to Hopkins watching the fight.

He's universally regarded #3 for taking out top opposition.

Yeah forreal, then he had to play it off like Oscar won . That fight was a disgrace, man. Oscar gasping for breath in the final rounds, throwing those meaningless flurries while Sturm was rocking his head back with those stiff jabs.

Sturm wouldn't fight Martinez, or Pirog or Golovkin, for any amount of money, even if the fight were in Germany, the judges were all German and on the payroll of his promoter, and he was guaranteed to start the fight with a five-point lead on the judges' scorecards. He is going to be content making good money in Germany fighting guys like Ronald Hearns and some dudes with no punch but nice records padded on the European or US Midwest circuit.
