How the **** is Pavlik taller than Williams in all the official measurements? Williams a giant.

The problem with this is that he has a good chance to beat EVERYONE at 160 and under. I actually think Pacquiao and Mayweather at 154 would give Martinez a harder fight than anyone else at 160. In reality, Pacquiao and Mayweather are the most difficult opponents Martinez could face right now. There's just no one else near Martinez' league in his weight class.

And until the 168 pounders finish the super six and settle everything with Bute, there's just no point in Martinez moving up in weight until at least next year.

On Saturday night in Ekaterinburg, Russia - Pirog had a much tougher than expected time in winning a twelve round unanimous decision over optional challenger Javier Francisco Maciel (18-2, 12KOs). The scores were 115-112, 117-110 and 115-111.

at first I was giving martinez the benefit of the doubt and just hope that he wouldn't duck pirog, but now hope has been dashed and now the duckage is becoming a reality... why else would team martinez downplay pirog in order to fight manfredo???

I keep asking the same thing about Pac turning down Mayweather ($50 MILLION) for a nobody like Clottey that hasn't won a fight since 2008.

At least Manfredo is winning compared to a POS like Clottey....

Martinez vs Manfredo is = to Pac vs Mosley as we ALL Know the outcome. So what if it happens? The NOBODY Pirog gets DESTROYED by Martinez, Strum is a better match yet we all know what happens to him too...

SMW is where it's at for Martinez as soon as the Super Six is over, in the meantime EVERYONE from 154 (or who has EVER fought at JMW) to 160 don't want none!

Martinez shouldn't be ridiculed for fighting Manfredo as much as he is. He just had four tough fights with Williams twice, Pavlik and Dzinziruk. People can trash Dzinziruk now that he has lost but before the fights lots of people (including boxing writers) were questioning how Martinez could try and look good against this guy while winning. He knocked the guy out, can't look better than that. I don't want Manfredo either although I say let him have his gimme fight, by then their will be a winner of Chavez vs. Zbik and he can go from there. If it's Chavez, he can kiss that fight goodbye but if it's Zbik, that would be for his 'old title' back. If not, then he can reach out to Sturm or Pirog, see if they have fought anyone and go from there. Demanding him to fight Pirog next or say he is ducking him is hogwash. Maybe Pirog can fight Sturm, Martinzez can fight Manfredo and the winners fighting each other. Who would argue with that scenario?

No one should be using the name Martinez and ducking in the same sentence anyways but that scenario sounds like a good one. I agree with you that Arum does not put Chavez Jr in the ring with Martinez.

In all fairness no guy that puts on gloves for is a coward it's more about risk and reward most fighters coming up willl fight anyone even floyd at first was calling out every and anyone. But once the fame and money comes guys value reward over risk. In they mind it's like hey I worked hard to get here why take a chance fighting some up and comer for less money when I can fight a big name for more even if he is and easier opponnent. Even Manny does this now. I can't blame them I probably would too.
