The only way Pirog is going to make a name for himself is fighting, winning and then calling out Martinez. Everybody and their uncle calls out the best fighters when they are winning and/or undefeated, so if I were Pirog, I would call out Martinez after ever fight. Once a fighter starts calling someone out over and over, at some point, people are going to start to listen. It sounds like Team Martinez is just bitter about the title being stripped and refuse to give him a chance. But then, at the same time, then why do they keep calling out the winner between Chavez Jr vs. Zbik? I am not saying Pirog deserves a chance just yet, just saying he has the right to call out whomever he pleases...

It is a bit amusing however, how the business side of boxing is. I bet their tune would change (a la Arum) if Pirog had a big following and brought in a lot of money.

Martinez just fought a couple weeks ago anyway. You can't say he is ducking Pirog until the chance to make the fight is there and doesn't happen.

In the meantime, it looks like we will be stuck with Manfredo. I am not really looking forward to that fight but HBO looks to be on-board since Manfredo is somewhat known from the Contender series. Sergio has earned a softer touch though and as long as he goes for someone tough afterward, I won't hold it against him...

Pirog did look really good against Jacobs, but when they fought each other, that was really the 1st time both fighters stepped up class.. Jacobs was a promising prospect & Pirog took him out & proved to be better than Jacobs that night & did it in good fashion...But neither fighter had been really tested before that.. Immediately a lot of people jumped on the Pirog band wagon & thought he could take on the world & wipe out the Middleweight division..Now Pirog fought unknown Marciel, who has never fought out of Argentina before the Pirog fight & Marciel didn't show anything special, besides the fact that he took good shots & that he exposed Pirog..Pirog won the fight, but didn't look impressive at all & in the 8th round Marciel got a couple of good shots to the head & body of Pirog & Pirog was in trouble & started backing up & holding threw out the rest of the round..That was Marciel only good round..Martinez would get rid of Pirog faster than what he did to Dzinzuruk!!! I think Martinez should try to unify against Pirog next, cause it would make a WAY better fight than against Manfredo..Martinez will NOT gain ANYTHING by beating Manfredo & would ANNIHILATE Manfredo faster than he did Williams..They ONLY way Manfredo would last is if Martinez takes it easy a carries him around for a few rounds..

If Zbik wins, there really is no money there since HBO didn't even want that fight to begin with. I think if Sergio doesn't try to get the Sturm fight, then Pirog should. That would get him another title (I think Pirog would beat Sturm) and make the Sergio fight more attractive...

Against Manfredo I don't think it won't be even a fight, but more like a glorified sparring session!! & it will last as long as Martinez wants it to last..
