It's been more than 20 years since boxing has gotten a whiff of network television. Although we're not getting actual fight to watch, we will see primetime reality shows on TV and promotional ads building up fight which is positive. I don't know how anybody cannot support that, but there's no guarentees afterwards. Really they are highlighting Pacquiao. It's an exhibition of sorts to get mainstream feet wet on Pacquiao who's a great ambassador for boxing and a good point man to get this exposure. If successful, and they can get decent ratings, uh....hopefully actual fights on actual network TV will come later. Let capitalism work.

Mosley is American who speaks English. Marquez might be better fight, but really it's a tough sell on Marquez. You cannot put two non-English speaking fighters on a primetime reality show on American TV. Berto? Please. Pacquiao may be big, but he's not that big. Mosely does have a better track record on PPV as a B side than Berto or Marquez, and is also clean cut. On paper, it's a decent style match-up with no runners.

This is first time out for Top Rank and boxing. They got a real big opportunity here to bring exposure again. Looking at that, Mosley was best choice.
    bwahaha. This post is funny

He's turned into one in his last two outings. What's ypu think we are pulling this out of thin air?

Damn.. not even a year ago.. many were talking about how Shane would HURT Manny. But since old man mosley lost a decision and got a draw to two defensive oriented fighters (one an ATG)... people are boycotting. **** it.. I don't like the match up either but we are guaranteed entertainment and exposure to cbs.. can't be mad at that. Hopefully Berto is next so he can clean out the division, if Floyd don't want to play. Then go back down to 140 and beat the 'skilled' fighters down there.

I agree that it could have been a lot better if they fought in 09.

However, I disagree with you on this being a b.s. fight, because Mosley is a highly ranked fighter at WW (Top 3 IMO).

It doesn't do squat for Manny's legacy.
He cAnt be top 3. If you want to put him there that's on you but nah he not above berto. We have to agree to disagree on that.

Man I know 1 thing, manny better dominate because if not all hell is going to brake loose on NSB. Lol....

Like I said I don't like this fight but hopefully it's entertaining(from a Dan prospective)

Yes. I do think that some of you are selling Mayweathers win over Mosley short, you think its just that ****in easy to neutralize one the best welterweights in the last decade? And Sergio Mora? stylistically "wtf?" are the only words that come to mind.
I've come to realize that some of you are under the impression that Shane Mosley is going to forget how to fight on May 7th.

mora can be forced to fight, and frequently is, a younger shane would have made that a good fight and won handily. he let mora disctate since he can't pull the trigger anymore and his legs are shot.

Mosley is still a scary fighter! ppl act like hes a push-over, but his last fight with Mayweather he almost KO'd him and then went the distance, lost, but still... Manny's got his work cut out for him. Pac>Sugar Shane probably a 12 Round UD is my prediction.

I never said that Shane couldn't have pulled it off if he had been 5 years (or whatever) younger. I just said at that point (2010) it was a bad match-up of styles. Shane, lets just call it how it is, likes guys to stand in front of him, Mora was never built like that, let alone would do that against a puncher like Shane. GB ****ed up, that fight ******, on top of that, they had Shane move up in weight, 154 ain't for him and we know that. As far as Floyd goes, well that's just Floyd, can you really downgrade that win aside from Mosley coming off a 15 month layoff, which is the ******est thing to do before going against a top notch fighter.

i agree with all but the bold.

first bold is that shane could have made more do that (like many fighters have, most recently vera). the size difference was bad, but its not like shane was using quickness and footwork. manny certainly doesn't "stand right in front of you". if anyone believes that they are ***n crazy, so manny is a bad fight for shane too.

second bold, i think it was a good win for floyd, but you can also say that shane was old and to me it looked like he gave up in that fight, you'd think he'd come out looking to prove something vs mora, which he didn't look to do, hence my belief that shane doesn't have it in him any more.
