  • Martinez has a huge amount of talent and skills. But if Martinez wants to be the #1 P4P, he should fight bigger guys like Lucian Bute and Andre Ward just like Pacquiao did?! Who did he beat yesterday to deserve the P4P throne?!... Ahhhhh A Nobody... Thats being hype by HBO! Donaire has more impressive wins againts Martinez coz he KTFO the Linear Bantamweight Champion but still not enough to topple Pacquiao at the P4P throne because Manny's body of work is more consistent on beating much bigger and more recognizable champions as he come up in weight.

If Bob Arum is smart, he keeps Cotto away from Martinez. Cotto may have better boxing skills but Sergio has a very fast hands and a hard fast jab. That is not a fight I could see Cotto winning and don't get me wrong, I like Cotto very much because he is a very exciting fighter. Cotto can fight Margarito and make the same amount of money and try to get revenge against him and that is what Bob "keep 'em in house" Arum is going to do...

      • Sergio Martinez is a great talent, unfortunately he was unknown when he was @ 154, now he grew that weight and is a middleweight. Understand he wanting to cash out his skills and there's nothing wrong in doing so. Now, here must of the people are rationalizing this from Sergio's point of view, but what about Pacquiao's, Cotto's and Floyds point of view. Do you guys think they're that stup!d?!!! Why would you fight a guy that is bigger, stronger, fresher, w/ speed and power, unorthodox, southpaw that will out weight you by 30 lbs on fight night for less money than fighting each other or the Mosley's, Mayorga's, Cintron's, Berto's, Margarito's?!!! Me as a fan would love to see that happen but if I was the one that had to get into the ring and be at the other end, will think about it a 1000 times...
        ---
Out of these 3 possibilities, I think:
        1. Mayweather/Martinez @ 154 would be a good fight and due-able too, it will be the more competitive out of the 3 fights...actually I think Floyd would win this fight by a close UD!!! @ 160 Martinez will mule Floyd, Floyd will be to heavy to move and get out of danger...Martinez late stoppage or UD.

        2. Cotto/Martinez @ 154 would be an unfair fight...Cotto is not the same fighter, Martinez will be too strong, too fast, too much for Cotto. 5-8 rnd TKO/KO Martinez. This fight @ 160 will be a crime!!! This is coming from a Rican, huge Cotto's fan, but realistic!!! Out of the 3 fights this is the one w/ the better chance of happening @ the end of 2011. Cotto has the balls to get into the ring w/ Sergio.

        3. Pacquiao/Martinez @ 154 would be interesting for a few rounds but then Martinez' weight and reach advantage will take over. Manny will be able to move in/out and give Sergio some problems but Sergio will adjust and will impose his advantages stopping Manny around the 10th rnd. I say this cause Manny is too competitive and will try to go toe to toe w/ Martinez...@ 160 will be a crime too!!!

        • All the Pac vs. Martinez talk needs to stop. I mean I know it is a fantasy fight but Martinez is too damn big, and Pac is already a small welter. Floyd will never fight him Roger doesn't want him fighting southpaws and Martinez is a slick southpaw who can box and has power. Martinez would beat both in my opinion. Floyd would get UD'd and possibly knocked out. Floyd dosn't even entertain this fight too much risk.

            • martinez is one of the best right now, pacquiao would die fightin him,but may probly got the best chance beating him if he fights em
but cotto wouldnt last 6 rounds i bet
look wut happened to paul williams, when martinez wants it bad hell get it, he aint scared to throw hard punches and takin risks, tho he is very crafty with his hands,he hurt cintron bad, made williams look like a dead fish on a beach wit his eyes open n ****,and now beat a very credible opponent in dzinzruk
dude had a jrmiddlewt title for a minute now and remained undefeated, hows that a nobody?

Floyd would be a 7:5 favorite, it would be one of the most competitive fights we could ever home for and it would sell sell sell. The fact sergio is a middle w is the only thing slowing the fight but may speaks money at will take any chance to beat pacs ppv numbers just my opinion . Let's just not get over excited and think Martinez just walks through anyone if serigy landed at 39%, which I think was a bit inflated then may can land. So let's forget about may - pac, its time for the real p4p 1 and 2 to fight (sergio #1)
Don't be fooled Mayweather would suffer his first loss bottom line, and like I said earlier Mayweather doesn'teven entertain the thought of fighting a slick southpaw that can box and has power.

Will was great neither one has great power. In the 2nd fight Martinez got a once in a life time punch and landed. In my opinion he beat a weight drained and drunk KP who is one dimensional . I hope he fights Cotto. i am not a cotto fan but i think he can beat Sergio with ease. He is an akward fighter and keeps his hands low and Cotto would be his first skilled fighter with good movement good hand speed and good power. So what he beat Dzin who had a padded record. I say Cotto would dominate Martinez
You are not giving Dzinziruk enough credit. The guy is a very good solid fighter who took several shots for a bonafide middleweight before going down. I believe Dzind would give anyone at 154 lbs problems with his stiff hard jab and hard to penetrate defensive skills. His record may be slightly padded but he has some good boxing skills, you cannot deny that and I believe he would be competitive with anyone of the top 5 at 154 lbs, including Cotto...

                  • pac is maxed out at WW, 2 divisions lower than sergio's weight class. pac almost only at the WW limit during fightnight, while sergio's coming in at 170 fight night. that's 23lbs for ****'s sake.

floyd is a lil bigger but still a small JMW.

EXACTLY! The HATE is out of FEAR! Fear that he would BEAT Pacquiao and Fear that he will take that #1 spot on the P4P Rankings...he already took Fighter Of The Year from him lol

anytime someone is a legit threat to someones favorite fighter, people starts to BASH that fighter
