I think Sergio beats Angulo who is very slow and methodical however I haven't seen Kirkland yet since his incarceration. He definitely was a tough SOB before he went in and everybody is saying he hasn't lost a step. Also, Max Kellerman was all over his d*ck Saturday night. But I would need to see him against a top quality foe before making that call. We know Kirkland would bring it but he would need to be able to cut off the ring, and Sergio excels at movement. I can't make a pick on this one but damn, I would want to see it along with any of the following: Kirkland vs. Angulo, Kirkland vs. Margarito, Mayorga vs. Kirkland, Mayorga vs. Margarito, Mayorga vs. Angulo or Angulo vs. Margarito. Any of those fights would be awesome (sorry for getting off topic a little bit, but salivating at the thought of those brutal fights)...

    • Sergio can become p4p#1 without beating either of those two guys.

Just keep on fighting the level of competition he's been fighting and he'll get there.

Fighting Floyd or Pac leads to too many excuses from the Floyd and Pac stans.

Too small, too short, not enough power etc...

I am a Pacquiao fan and I am Sergio fan too. And yeah, when a guy could potentially outweigh you by 20 lbs or more on fight night, is 5" taller, naturally bigger with broader shoulders and has a reach advantage, fear is a natural reaction. If either Pac or May fought Sergio, it would be career suicide. Sergio has moved up from 147 to 154 to now, 160 lbs. Would you ask him to move up to light heavyweight or cruiserweight? No, and you can't ask two smaller welterweights who weighed 106 and 130 lbs when they started to move up either. It's just not realistic or make good business sense either. Hell, Sergio has blatantly said he would not move up to 168 lbs because of the weight advantage to his opponents but expects two smaller guys to move up and fight him. The pendulum swings both ways...

Sergio is to Floyd what Hagler was to Leonard but Hagler was much more of a killer. Floyd definitely has a shot. It would be tough but with the right plan I think he can do it. Manny never was P4P #1. There is no excuse when he just fought for Sergio's title @ 154.

          • You got 2 sides to this

            1. 154 is 154

            2. Idk why Sergio wants to fight them so badly when you're in a different weight class. Sergio can easily shine in his own right. Move up and fight... why not do that

            • Too Big

Martinez is way too big for Mayweather and definately Pacquiao.. He is a fullblown middleweight!! he fought Pavlik for gods sake!! These fights should not happen, Pacquiao should not be fighting above welter and Mayweather probably not either... The sport has to grow beyond 3 players!! Fight at 168 if you want challenges Martinez

              • Here's what Pac fans don't understand. Pac fighting Delahoya at WW = Serg fighting Roy Jones JR at 168 today. Pac fighting Miguel Cotto at 145 would be like Serg demanding Pavlik to come in at 158 for a fight for his belt. Pac fighting Joshua Clottey was alot like Sergio against Bunema. Pac fighting Mosley at WW is like Serg fighting Jermain Taylor at 160 today. The difference is Serg vs Dzin is like Pac fighting Alexander, Khan or Bradley which no one is holding their breath about. Papa Arum worked his magic and Pac has made many a fan but Serg deserves to be #1p4p just as much as Pac. I think Serg can fight the winner of Cotto/Margarito at 154, or Abraham at 164 or so. He deserves some big money fights.

Sergio is my man but he would lose to Ward, Bute and maybe others. Those guys are natural 168 pounders not just moving up. Last nights fight showed some flaws that can be exploited with the right style and game plan. Though PBF and Pac are smallish welters it's a dare to be great fight. Sergio may not be a Hagler but Floyd could say he truly beat the biggest test of his era and cement his place in history with a win which be the ultimate test of his career. That would be a fight he could truly retire after.

                  • calling big names like GAYweather and PACQUIAO is insanity, for sure martinez will kick his butt... why not fight those likes of margarito or cotto, defeat those guys impressively then MAYBE you have a big chance facing those big names you have mention.

Neither fighter will ever fight at 154 lbs again and you can't fault them for that. People who just want to see either Floyd or Pacman lose are demanding that fight. Of course they will lose, Martinez is naturally bigger, taller and stronger than both men. I don't expect to see Sergio move up to 168 lbs like most people however I think he would school Froch, AA, Taylor, Dirrell and Johnson. I think Bute and Ward would be pick-em fights. Can you imagine Floyd Jr and/or Pacman fighting any of those forementioned super middles....????
                      Like most people ?

Sergio moving to 168 is an absurd notion that never crossed my mind.

He is a very small middleweight, and can still make 154.
