Sergio has many people his own size at jr middle and middle that he can fight to cement his legacy. He just wants to cash out and who can blame him for that but unfortunately for him, he's going to need to earn it the hard way...

I understand Sergio wants to cash out before he retires, which will be soon. And he does deserve big money, but I think maybe he should start being more realistic. Cotto would work at 154-157, or call out the guys at 168. There can be big money for him with any of the Super 6ers, not as much as Pac or Floyd, but he can fight twice more this year if he wants.

Funny considering Pac fans give Manny credit for beating bigger guys. Even how they brag about how Manny broke Margarito's face. Wasn't that fight at 154? Oh forgot..... 150 catchweight for Martinez's belt. I noticed not too many Pac fans are saying Manny can win but rather he's too small to fight in a division he won his 8th title in, that his fans give him so much credit for. Too small excuse is a cop out.

No reason to discuss it. The thing is neither Floyd Jr or Pacquiao will ever fight above 147 lbs again. Even if they don't fight each other, there is JMM, Berto, Bradley and even Amir Khan for the two of them to fight who are all near top guys. I can understand Sergio wanting the biggest fights however he blatantly refuses to go up to 168 lbs because of the weight disadvantage. Well, I believe Floyd Jr and Pacquiao would say the same thing about going to 154 lbs. The pendulum swings both ways.....

I agree with what you stated above, but I am not interested in the other half of your post, as it completely missed the point.

So, Manny does not want to fight a genuine JMW, even though he held a "title" in that division, because it is not "fair" to fight somebody who holds a size advantage over you ?

Well, it is strange that a supposed P4P fighter will not defend his title, and has previously demanded catch-weights, but anyway.....

Fine then, Manny does not have to fight Martinez..... but because he thinks that it is unfair to fight with a size disadvantage, then he can fight Marquez at 140.

Manny is a natural JWW and can easily make 140 according to both Ariza and Roach.

How can some of you idiots blame Sergio for making these statements? Isn't Manny being the hypocrite by moving up to 154 to fight for a phony BS vacant title and then for some reason deciding he's too small to stay there? Manny is big and tough enough to fight Margarito, someone that got knocked out, got caught trying to cheat, suspended for a year, and has never fought at 154 before he got suspended, but not big and tough enough to defend his hard earn title against a real 154 fighter? I don't think its fair for Manny to fight someone as big as Martinez but what he did moving to 154 and winning against a BS opponent then abandoning his title is as sleazy as it gets.

I can't blame him for wanting to fight these guys. I think the smw division is awesome but I don't think its mainstream enough. Pac, Floyd and cotto are household names and would give him all the exposure he could ever want and when and if he gets one of them in a fight and wins. Then I could see him going up in weight but it would be with a larger fan base. But I could also see him go fight bute in Canada or Felix in his turf and that would attract big crowds if nothing else works. Lastly give the man's props he always puts on a show, doesn't complain and is always respectful.

How? Martinez already beat bigger guys up. Floyd and Pac are out for the money only. This too small excuse would probably hold some weight if the fighters Martinez wants to fight hadn't fought and held titles there. How is calling them out bad? It's also funny how people are speaking for Floyd but when asked about possibly moving up for a fight with Martinez he didn't say Martinez is too big. He just said it's possible. Pac team used the size excuse though. Martinez is not a fighter who shy away from challenges. Sergio did say Pac was too small after Paul and he would fight Floyd but I think his promoter told him to push for both. Mosley and Margarito fought at Jr middle weight and Pac was/is down to fight them.

I totally agree.

To be fair, Margarito had previously fought above 147 on a couple of occasions, but you are correct, he was not a genuine Junior Middleweight.

bernard hopkins has more catchweight fights than pac.

Pac has already stated that he's done fighting above 147. I have a pinoy friend whose parents are best friends with one of pac's hanger ons & they were with pac on sunday after the fight & pac's inner family was not happy with the fight & with how hurt pac was against margarito who was a super middle on fight night.
