Did you ever take the time and think that maybe it was Whitaker that made De la Hoya look like a amatuer?
Exactly bro, people romanticize Oscar too much.

They like to throw around "being in diapers" or "not following the sport" at the time. But, I think the people who romanticize Oscar wasn't watching or following the sport.

Oscar had a good jab, had a great left hook(mainly because, he's left handed) but in damn near all his fights he would have his chin tucked, hands up, come forwards, sometimes on his toes but when he threw a combo. It wasn't JMM-esque type of combos it was just BS flurries. And, that's the way he fought throughout his career.

JCC was past prime and was moving up in weight.

JLC was prime and had a size and weight advantage on Floyd. Floyd also fought with a torn rotator in their first fight.

JLC at lightweight is better than JCC at welterweight.

I honestly think that's exactly what he's saying.

JCC wasn't past prime, he was prime. It's ridiculous to insinuate otherwise.

And, JCC at WW 5 years gave a respectable a performance against -I guess an inexperience- Oscar, prior to quitting on his stool. But, that's just the greatness of JCC.

It still has to take respectable power to stop JCC in his tracks.

And, Floyd couldn't still stop JLC in his track in the rematch.

But, I agree with everything else.

Like I said both Floyd and Whitaker have/had respectable power. Maybe Floyd was a little bit more powerful. But, both respectable, neither were feather fisted

Bold, this is why I'm really starting to doubt you've seen enough of Whitaker.

Say for example we talked about some of the greatest body punchers, Whitaker is an honorable mention, Not Floyd.

              Just watch the guy man!
I've seen plenty of his fights, I hosted the fight party vs Chavez, even though I thought he won I knew it would be a draw cause Chavez was God at the time. Pernell, to me, made average fighters look better and he allowed them to hang around longer than they should. I just didn't see the power your referring to, he had great legs and a low center of gravity but he was no Pacquiao when it came to punching power. Also he hot dogged a bit too much for me, I preferred Roy Jones hot dogging cause he Knocked you the **** out with it. But like I said Pea never fought a guy like Floyd, he was always against the flat footed slow brawlers as well. McGirt's basic boxing gave Pea a lot of trouble, good wins but clearly showed that Floyd would probably have beaten Pea.

I don't know about the bold. Also you saying WW like that is Whitaker best weight or something. Both Whitaker and JC Chavez Sr. moved UP to 147. Regardless of all of that Whitaker beat Chavez Sr. and he was robbed with that fight being called a draw!!!

How can u say Pea is stronger than Floyd? Based on what? Who has ever bullied Floyd around besides JLC in Floyd's first lightweight appearance? Show me power in your punches not just your clinching and pushing ability. Floyd got a beautiful and powerful left hook, a precise straight right hand, he has dominated entire fights with those two perfect punches. Overall neither of us can say one is or isn't stronger than the other, which is better conditioned is more like it, easy answer, Floyd.

That's insane dude, how did he make the great Azumah Nelson look? Well he straight dominated him, and considering how good JCC was, that was a damn good performance he put, sadly he got robbed. I do admit that he showboated a little too much, and that lead to a few knock downs in his career, but he always picked himself up, smiled, and proceeded to outbox his opponent.

It goes both ways, neither fought anyone like eachother.

Floyd's the better puncher, Whitaker's the physically stronger guy. Bold, really? I think it's even but if you wanted to make a case for one of them it'd be Sweet Pea, Pernell close to doubled Mayweather's usual punch output.
