precisely.... that's why he lost that decision to delahoya.... he didn't engage enough.... he looked good by making delahoya look foolish... but that's not enough to win a fight....

and comparing him pernell to floyd is idiotic, a southpaw is a southpaw - he's always going to be more illusive...

          delahoya vs. whitaker
          and delahoya vs. mayweather

do not allow for an accurate assessments of pernell vs. floyd

look at the facts, de la hoya outweighed floyd by 16lbs on the night of their fight... floyd's first at 154....

when de la hoya fought pernell, he had been campaigning at welterweight for 5 years and it was de la hoya's first fight at 147.....

there's no way that was the best delahoya, he was 23 fights into his career and he was fighting at welterweight for the first time, only two years prior to that de la hoya was fighting at lightweight.... added to that the last southpaw delahoya had fought was at superfeatherweight....

pernell was an experienced veteran not anywhere near over the hill, still in great shape and probably just passed his prime but not passed it....

you could argue the de la hoya that fought mayweather had far more advantages in that fight then he did against whitaker....

            good read
I think Whit easily outboxes Pac and decisions Floyd
I see Floyd easily beating both chavez and Taylor but losing to a prime oscar
Pac gets KO'd by a body shot from chavez and beats Taylor in a war
he gets KO'd by a prime oscar
judah has what it takes to knock pac out cold but he has to do it within 5
if he doesnt then its all down hill for Zab

i think it could be a toss up. its hard to go against pernell though. i think meldrick gives a hard time to floyd because he could box and rumble. another toss up IMO. but i think meldrick ko's manny because manny loves to rumble but mel was stronger and faster than pac. both fighters have a lot of heart, but manny gets ko'd IMO. pernell beat oscar. floyd still beats a prime oscar. oscar ran from floyd for years. floyd lobbied for a DLH fight eventhough oscar was far bigger. but DLH wanted none of the young floyd. all risk and no gain. thats what DLH and shane said in not taking a floyd fight. pac ko's zab though. zab would out box pac for maby 3-4 rounds. but then pac would catch up to him and lay gloves on him by the 6th round. i do think pernell would beat pac by ud. hard to see these guys beating a prime pernell. floyd has a chance but still a toss up imo.

Pernell Whitaker in his prime was unbeatable like Roy Jones Jr great. He would beat Floyd Mayweather Jr & Manny Pacquiao EASY!!! Make them both look like clowns in the ring. Meldrick Taylor beats Floyd Mayweather Jr & Manny Pacquiao EASY as well. REAL TALK
